There are two versions of Sniffers - legit applications and malicious ones (you can learn more about them here). In order to figure out if the malicious Sniffer was installed on the device, you have to run a full system scan with reputable security software. If your suspicions are right, antivirus or malware removal program will delete this malicious application from the device. Thus, you will be able to use your computer safely and normally again.
