Hello, my files were encrypted by, I believe, the latest version of Serpent ransomware. My question is, how can I recover them? There must be a way to decrypt .srpx files for free.

The activity of Serpent ransomware increased lately. The latest detection version (you are right!) uses .SRPX file extensions to mark encrypted files and drops two ransom notes called README_TO_RESTORE_FILES_[3 characters] (HTML and TXT versions).
Reportedly, the ransomware asks to pay 0.75 Bitcoin for data decryption software. Please, do not pay such amount of money to cyber criminals. They give you no guarantees regarding data recovery, and you can just be left out without data - there is no refund policy when dealing with cyber criminals.
We suggest you remove Serpent ransomware using these instructions and recover your files using a backup. In the tutorial we prepared, you can find some other data recovery methods that you might want to try.
