The application checks the Windows registry, running processes, web browser cookies, local files and folders. It uses extensive, regularly updated parasite definitions database, which contains signatures of spyware, adware, keyloggers, trojans, browser hijackers and other malicious programs. Practically every aspect of Spybot-S&D can be customized. The user can modify various scan and startup specific settings, set the program to ignore certain objects, schedule system scans, apply different skins or languages (Spybot-S&D is translated into 51 languages). The program includes useful additional tools, which prevent browser hijacks, uninstall user-chosen software, unrecoverably delete specified files, display and allow changing system startup settings and other advanced options. Spybot-S&D implements powerful real-time protection that blocks malicious ActiveX scripts and keeps unsolicited software off the system. The program's interface can differ depending on the selected mode - default or advanced. The default mode is simple, clean and user-friendly. However, only few main functions are available in this mode. The advanced mode provides full access to all the settings and tools. About spybot i only want do say that it only destroys spyware aplication, what means that if a sistem32 file is afected with a spyware, spybot only deletes the file afected. NOT RECOMMENDED TO DOWNLOAD. Try Windows Defender, its better.

I've been trying hard to get rid of contravirus on my computer using spybot, but it's not really working too well.

Easily the best widely-available freeware spyware detection and removal program. (Not including Spyware Doctor because the free detection AND removal version is only available from Google.)

SpyBot is a very useful software and may help you in fighting spyware. I also downloaded AVG Antispyware and they work fine together.

Using both your Spybot and the SPYFALCON page with all the user comments helped me greatly. Had that *&^%$# Spyfalcon on my machine for almost a week.

Spybot Works well but the online update servers are constantly overwhelmed. Users may need multiple trys, upgrade at odd hours or reconfigure to alternate servers to successfully update the program.
