Suspicious activities on your and your friend's mobiles might be the sign of cyber infection. It's hard to tell from your inquiry what exact cyber threat may have targeted your devices. Therefore, your friend's assumptions and fears of identity theft might be true. There are numerous versions of Android, Facebook or viruses that might be used for obtaining your personal information for multiple purposes. We highly recommend scanning both of your mobiles with antivirus or malware removal program.
If malware prevents from installing security software or you cannot run it, you should reboot your phones to Safe Mode and then try again. If you still cannot launch antivirus, you may need reset your phones to factory state and then run a system scan.
Meanwhile, we want to discourage you from answering suspicious phone calls because it might be scammers pretending to be technical support specialists that are willing to help you. Additionally, if you find some phone recovery instructions in a strange pop-up or lock-screen window, do not follow them. They are created by cybercriminals.
Sincerely,
2-spyware team.
