My Samsung smartphone started behaving oddly. I received lots of advertisements and pop ups, and sometimes strange applications open up. I am not sure how they even ended up on my phone. Can it be a Lockdroid ransomware?

Many viruses that aim at mobile devices behave similarly. Pop-ups, redirects, and installation of suspicious apps are the main signs that your smartphone has been infected. If it were infected with Lockdroid ransomware, you would have found some data encrypted on your device. You can learn more about this virus here. Meanwhile, we recommend installing a mobile version of the antivirus program and scanning the phone. Your chosen program will detect which infection causes these annoying issues, and eliminates them.
