We are sorry to hear that your PC has been attacked by a ransomware known as Mpaj. As you have specified, this crypto-malware appends .mpaj extension to locked files and then demands to pay the ransom for a description software.
First of all, we'd like to encourage you not to pay the ransom. The first thing you should do is to make backups of those locked files. After that, reboot your PC into Safe Mode with Networking as explained inthis article and launch an antivirus program that you currently have on the system. Most security programs are capable of removing this tool, so we believe that your's will also work as expected.
It's very important not to take any actions before the virus is not terminated completely. Any attempts to run an antivirus program or third-party data recovery tools may lead to a permanent file loss, therefore, please do prepare the backups first.
Upon Mpaj removal, you should try one of the recovery methods listed here. You have more than one option, i.e. to use Data Recovery Pro, take advantage of Windows Previous Version feature, ShadowExplorer, or install an official Mpaj decryptor developed by Emsisoft.
Good luck!
