I am not getting one thing. How is it possible that after installing VLC media player I got AllPCOptimizer alerts all over my screen. They state that my PC is sluggish because of broken registry records, and how I have to pay $20 to fix it!! It is outrageous! I think this program is a virus! How do I remove it??
I downloaded media player, but got AllPCOptimizer instead??

Indeed, AllPCOptimizer is a program that spreads through shareware and freeware applications, like media players, PDF creators and other tools. There is a possibility to install them without getting third party applications on your computer - you have to be very cautious about every installation step. At one point, it will ask you to agree to install software like AllPCOptimizer while you install your favorite media player. It is critical to "skip" this step or uncheck the box "I Agree" when you continue with the installation.
Now, don't pay $20 for what you did not intend to buy. You should just remove AllPCOptimizer instead. Here is a link to correct removal instructions for AllPCOptimizer. Alternatively, you should consider downloading automatic removal tool like SpyHunter, which will prevent installation of dubious programs that are spread through freeware software bundles. Be sure to try it out.
