I have purchased and run the software but it has had no effect. My computer is still infected with Gandcrab 5.1 and I can’t access any infected files. What can I do?

Reimage has Avira antivirus engine built inside. Avira is detecting Gandcrab, so you should be capable of removing the virus. Have you updated the program before a scan? If no, update the app and run a full system scan.
However, note that Reimage, Malwarebytes and any other anti-virus is not designed to decrypt encrypted files. It is a totally different procedure that has nothing in common with virus removal. The encryption procedure which is launched by ransomware right after it infects computer system is related to two separate encryption codes which are saved in hackers' servers. You need to know these codes to unlock your files and only a special decrypter (you need Gandcrab 5.1 decrypter) can help you unlock files.
Try using this tool which helped victims infected with previous versions. However, there is no guarantee that it will help you as the virus is relatively new: https://labs.bitdefender.com/2018/10/gandcrab-ransomware-decryption-tool-available-for-free/
