To avoid play-bar.net and other potentially unwanted programs (PUP), you have to download software from reliable sources and avoid file-sharing services. Then, you have to install a program using "Advanced" or "Custom" installation mode which allows seeing and declining optional applications. During the installation, you will see a checkbox with optional downloads, and you will be able to reject their installation. Keep in mind that if you install a program using "Basic," "Recommended," "Quick" or "Standard" setups, all optional applications will be installed by default.
