Remove Ads by Advanced ScreenSnapshot (Virus Removal Guide)

removal by Jake Doevan - -   Also known as Advanced ScreenSnapshotTool | Type: Adware

Is Advanced ScreenSnapshot virus dangerous?

If you receive “Advanced ScreenSnapshot ads” or “powered by Advanced ScreenSnapshot” advertisements, it means that your computer has been hijacked by an adware-type program. This program is called Advanced ScreenSnapshot adware, but some spyware researchers refer to it as Advanced ScreenSnapshotTool. Therefore, it is not a virus. Cyber security experts claim that this application is a potentially unwanted program (PUP) and that there is no reason to rely on its ads. There is a great chance that clicking on them will lead you to high-risk Internet sites that promote questionable applications or ask to participate in shady surveys (which might ask you to provide your personal information!). We cannot claim that all of these ads are dangerous or that all of them cause redirects to suspicious domains; however, it would be best if you didn’t click on these ads at all.

No matter if you have installed this ad-supported program by your choice, or if it has entered your computer system without your knowledge, we advise you to remove it, since this program has more drawbacks than advantages. If you suspect that it is running on your computer, then open Windows Task Manager and check “Processes” tab. Scroll through the list of active applications and try to locate ScreenShotServ.exe process. If you can see it, then there is no doubt that your computer has been hijacked.

Questions about Ads by Advanced ScreenSnapshot

If you did not install Advanced ScreenSnapshotTool adware from its official website, it means that it has landed on your computer system alongside another free program, which you have probably installed using Default/Standard settings. You should not rely on them! Next time, select Advanced/Custom settings and then see if the installer recommends you any optional components, such as browser add-ons, plug-ins, or other applications. You should always deselect such additions because usually, they are not what they pretend to be. In most cases, these “recommended downloads” are not useful applications, but potentially unwanted programs.

Ads by Advanced ScreenSnapshot

What kind of program is it?

As we have already stated, Advanced ScreenSnapshotTool is yet another ‘adware’ and ‘potentially unwanted program’ that is closely related to third parties and is basically used for affiliate marketing. In most of the cases, it embeds itself into web browsers without requiring users permission. After that, its main task is to make people click as many ads of its sponsors as possible because it gets a certain amount of money for that as well. Despite Advanced ScreenSnapshot redirects and advertisements, there is another issue to discuss as well. It’s your privacy. Just like any other adware, it uses tracking cookies. Even though Privacy Policy indicated personally non-identifiable information as a request, we feel responsibility to inform you that among supposed non-personal details, third parties may collect some quite sensitive information, including PC’s IP address, location, data entered in certain websites (including social networks), and similar information. In addition, successful infiltration of Advanced ScreenSnapshot add-on is usually followed by browser’s slowdowns or in some of the cases even corruption of a default start page and search provider. Such scenario is highly probably since this adware is commonly spread in a bundle with various toolbars and plug-ins, such as Znoo.net, Luckysearches.com, Delta Toolbar, and so on. That’s why Advanced ScreenSnapshot is a warning sign that should prompt you to check your computer with Reimage Reimage Cleaner Intego or an alternative anti-malware tool.
