Remove DealShark ads

removal by Linas Kiguolis - -   Also known as Ads by DealShark, DealShark virus, DealShark adware | Type: Adware

What is DealShark?

DealShark is a legitimate and free application, which typically infiltrates target computer without asking for user’s content. In most of the cases, it is distributed via software packages disclosed as an ‘additional component’. Therefore, whenever you decide to install a freeware on your computer, you should take some precautionary measures (we will speak about that in the next paragraph) in order to check whether the freeware you wish to install is reliable and in order to deselect its constituents, such as DealShark add-on. Technically, DealShark is not a virus and cannot harm your computer itself. However, it’s categorized as an adware and a potentially unwanted program (PUP). According to its developers (which are unknown), the add-on is supposed to keep its users informed about the best deals, discounts, coupons and similar things. Even though such service might seem useful for some Internet users, it’s not recommended to install and use this plug-in. Once installed, it may hijack all most popular websites, including Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, and may start initiating a huge amount of sponsored advertisements (pop-ups, pop-unders, banners, in-text links, interstitials, etc.). Of course, unpredictable ads disrupt web browsing activities; however, the bigger problem is related to their content. Security experts warn that ‘Ads by DealShark’ may redirect to unsafe websites where you may be tricked into installing another PUP or even virus. Therefore, it’s not recommended to get intrigued by any of the DealShark ads.

The main task of this program is to generate income for its developers. However, for this purpose, DealShark virus may apply unfair methods, such as deceptive advertising about which we have already spoken. In addition to that, it may also try to reach marketing goals with the help of cookies. It means that the add-on may also be used for collecting information that is stored in your computer, or specifically web browser. Such information encompasses your search terms, websites visited, data entered in them, clicks, IP address, PC’s location, email address and so on. Be careful because third parties may apply it for really suspicious purposes. Finally, be careful with DealShark redirects, which may continuously expose you to Click.dealshark.com domain filled with suspicious content. All in all, for keeping your computer safe, we recommend running a full system scan with ReimageIntego (Windows OS) or Webroot SecureAnywhere AntiVirus (Mac OS X).

How can DealShark hijack my computer?

Likewise RespectSale, ShopperMaster, Pc Optimizer Pro and many other apps that belong to ‘adware’ and PUP categories, DealShark is usually spread bundled with other freewares and sharewares. It’s a deceptive software marketing technique, which is widely applied for the distribution of suspicious apps. In order to prevent installing unwanted programs, you should always mind several things. Software packages are usually promoted via popular download websites, such as download.com, soft32.com or cnet.com. Therefore, if possible, avoid downloading apps from them. In addition to that, Quick or Basic installation may be set to hide ‘additional components’. Thus, you should opt for Advanced or Custom installation option and verify the installation wizard step-by-step. Finally, you should opt out of ‘optional downloads’ by unchecking ticks. In case you unconsciously accepted to install DealShark virus, follow these steps:

Stream videos without limitations, no matter where you are

There are multiple parties that could find out almost anything about you by checking your online activity. While this is highly unlikely, advertisers and tech companies are constantly tracking you online. The first step to privacy should be a secure browser that focuses on tracker reduction to a minimum.

Even if you employ a secure browser, you will not be able to access websites that are restricted due to local government laws or other reasons. In other words, you may not be able to stream Disney+ or US-based Netflix in some countries. To bypass these restrictions, you can employ a powerful Private Internet Access VPN, which provides dedicated servers for torrenting and streaming, not slowing you down in the process.

Data backups are important – recover your lost files

Ransomware is one of the biggest threats to personal data. Once it is executed on a machine, it launches a sophisticated encryption algorithm that locks all your files, although it does not destroy them. The most common misconception is that anti-malware software can return files to their previous states. This is not true, however, and data remains locked after the malicious payload is deleted.

While regular data backups are the only secure method to recover your files after a ransomware attack, tools such as Data Recovery Pro can also be effective and restore at least some of your lost data.
