What is Ads by DealDay?
What is DealDay?
DealDay is a shopping helper that is known as an ‘adware’ and a ‘potentially unwanted program’ (PUP). This program by nature is suspicious so the best thing that you can do is avoid this app or remove it once detected on the computer. Even though it boosts having a powerful search that can find the best deals, discounts, coupons and similar things related to online shopping, you should NOT believe that. It seems that this app is solely used for marketing purposes and cannot provide you with anything beneficial. The first thing that you have to know about this app is related to its distribution method. It does not have the official website and cannot be downloaded anywhere else as an individual app. The most commonly applied distribution method for this app is known as ‘bundling’, which means that DealDay can be distributed as an optional component of other freewares. This way, the adware manages to infiltrate hundreds of computers without being noticed. Isn’t that tricky?
Of course, it’s distribution is an alarming sign suggesting that DealDay is not the app that should be trusted. Nevertheless, once installed, it may start causing a serious havoc. It may hijack all web browsers that are installed on your computer (Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer) and start tracking your online activities. Despite the fact that it can gather only personally non-identifiable data (IP address, PC’s location, email address, search terms, websites visited, clicks, etc.), it’s yet another alarming sign indicating that cookies are installed on your machine and that third-parties can easily access your computer. Even more, DealDay virus may slow down your computer, increase security vulnerabilities and then cause redirects to third-party websites that may contain really suspicious content, for example, other PUPs. Thus, if you have already started receiving ‘Ads by DealDay’, ‘DealDay Ads’, ‘Powered by DealDay’ or similarly marked advertisements, we highly recommend you to ignore each of them. Otherwise, you can be redirected to suspicious websites and even tricked into installing suspicious apps on your machine. The ultimate way to protect your computer from DealDay redirects is to run a full system scan with FortectIntego (Windows OS) or Webroot SecureAnywhere AntiVirus (Mac OS X).

How can DealDay hijack my computer?
As we have already mentioned, it’s not possible to download DealDay directly because it does not have the official website and cannot be downloaded from other downloaded sources on its own. Nevertheless, it’s possible to install it via other freewares, for example, various download managers, PDF creators, media players, and so on. Unfortunately, this way DealDay virus usually gets into the computers without being noticed. If you are not willing to install and use it, you should install free software with extreme carefulness. No matter what download source you select, make sure that you opt for Advanced or Custom installation option and monitor the entire process step-by-step. Otherwise, you may start experiencing various troubles, such as browser’s redirects, security vulnerabilities, slowdowns, DealDay ads, and so on. In case these issues have already started bothering you, you should follow these steps:
