Remove Ebon Browser virus (Updated Guide)
What is Ebon Browser and is it legitimate?
Ebon Browser by Ebonmedia Corp. is a dubious web browser that is based on Firefox (open-source browser). We highly do not recommend using it because it may act very unfairly. First of all, people have to be cautious when installing free programs, such as various download managers, PDF creators, media players, and other free programs because Ebon Browser may be added alongside them as an ‘optional download.’ Of course, such suggestion to install a bonus app can be easily rejected; however, that requires people’s attentiveness during installation of a freeware. Therefore, it is not surprising why so many people have already installed it without being noticed. If it enters the system, it may corrupt various system settings, install itself on Windows startup and become your default browser. It is very important to warn you about privacy-related issues that Ebon Browser may cause. It has been found that it may use cookies to spy on you and track information about your browsing habits. However, as stated in its Privacy Policy, “When you communicate with us or use Ebon, we may collect personally identifiable information about you.” It can take your full name, phone number, home address, email address, PC’s IP address, and similar information, which may certainly be used for suspicious purposes.
Questions about Ebon Browser virus
Ebon Browser virus acts quite the same as other unreliable web browsers, such as 1stBrowser, Olive Browser, Hybrid Browser or any other. If a questionable site would become your search provider and homepage, whereas Ebon settles as your default browser, you may even start experiencing redirects to suspicious websites or may start receiving a ton of commercial advertisements during your browsing. Therefore, we recommend you to avoid using Ebon Browser and remove it from the system along with other suspicious applications. The easiest way to do that is to run a full system scan with ReimageIntego or another reliable anti-malware.
Can this adware hijack my computer and how can I prevent it?
As we have already mentioned, Ebon Browser virus has been labeled as a potentially unwanted program. Besides, the majority of reputable security vendors consider it to be an adware. On the other hand, Ebon Browser is not deemed to be malicious as it does not include dangerous files. It only functions as a tool to advertise questionable websites, but these websites can cause potential danger to your computer. However, it is not recommended to use it since it seems to be closely related to third-parties and may be set to initiate suspicious activities. It is very important not to forget that this dubious web browser is typically distributed via other freeware and shareware. We highly do not recommend using Propeller System, Vetaform Developments s.l. and other questionable download managers because they may promote Ebon Browser and other third-party apps. To prevent installing them, you have to uncheck tick that signs your agreement to install them. You can do that during installation of your selected freeware, but do not forget to select Advanced or Custom installation option. Be aware that after selecting Quick or Basic installation option, ‘additional components’ may be installed by default. Thus, never rush through the installation process and install freeware as carefully as possible.

Protect your privacy – employ a VPN
There are several ways how to make your online time more private – you can access an incognito tab. However, there is no secret that even in this mode, you are tracked for advertising purposes. There is a way to add an extra layer of protection and create a completely anonymous web browsing practice with the help of Private Internet Access VPN. This software reroutes traffic through different servers, thus leaving your IP address and geolocation in disguise. Besides, it is based on a strict no-log policy, meaning that no data will be recorded, leaked, and available for both first and third parties. The combination of a secure web browser and Private Internet Access VPN will let you browse the Internet without a feeling of being spied or targeted by criminals.
No backups? No problem. Use a data recovery tool
If you wonder how data loss can occur, you should not look any further for answers – human errors, malware attacks, hardware failures, power cuts, natural disasters, or even simple negligence. In some cases, lost files are extremely important, and many straight out panic when such an unfortunate course of events happen. Due to this, you should always ensure that you prepare proper data backups on a regular basis.
If you were caught by surprise and did not have any backups to restore your files from, not everything is lost. Data Recovery Pro is one of the leading file recovery solutions you can find on the market – it is likely to restore even lost emails or data located on an external device.
