removal by Jake Doevan - -   Also known as FusionBrowser | Type: Adware

Fusion Browser has been installed on my computer somehow. That is suspicious because I did not download this software. Is it a virus?

Fusion Browser description

Questions about Fusion Browser adware

Fusion Browser is not a virus, however, due to its suspicious activities on the affected PC, some users might call it like that. However, this browser is NOT a safe program, and you should not keep in installed on your PC. According to the developers of this program,

“Fusion seamlessly integrates your favorite Chrome browser features and settings into one convenient tool that is accessible directly from the comfort of your desktop. Enjoy the web the way it should be enjoyed…like a pro.”

The presentation slogan sounds nice; however, Fusion Browser is not a 'convenient tool' at all. In fact, this program has been added to “potentially unwanted programs” and “adware” categories. Let us explain how this software works:

Once this program gets installed on the system, it infects Internet browsers, including Mozilla Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer. Once it attaches its components onto these web browsers, it launches its cookies and starts collecting information deemed as non-personal.

Typically, such programs are interested in people's browsing history, favorite websites, data entered online ,saved bookmarks, search terms, email address and similar information. Later, you are going to encounter the advertising system this browser creates. It sends ads in various forms, for example, in-text links, pop-ups, pop-unders, new tab pages, banners, and so on. You have probably already realized, that these ads are selected according to your browsing preferences on the Internet, and you are going to receive “ads by Fusion Browser” or “Fusion Browser ads” that are familiar with your recent searches or items reviewed online.

Fusion Browser hijack

Sadly, but there is no guarantee that these ads are reliable at any point. We recommend ignoring them, because in most of the cases, they do not provide any real deals, but they seek to make you click on them to redirect you to third-party websites that belong to Fusion Browser sponsors.

These redirects are done to gain pay-per-click income, and that is why you should ignore these ads and eliminate this ad-supported program from the system as soon as possible. The best solution is to run a full system check with a professional anti-malware program, for example, Reimage Reimage Cleaner Intego.

Fusion Browser hijack anatomy. Installs itself without user permission

If this application has already started to interrupt you, you should know that it has been mostly spread using a deceptive marketing method called bundling. It works like this: whenever you decide to download free apps from the Internet, you choose to download ONE program, right? However, the problem is that many freeware and shareware apps make agreements with developers of PUPs to promote their shady software.

As a result, such shady programs are attached to legitimate free programs, and computer users frequently install them together because of a lack of attention during the installation process. Keep in mind that you should always select one of the following installation settings:

  • Advanced;
  • Custom.

Either one or another setting allows to adjust software installation by refusing to install optional third-party software. You just need to deselect the ticks near agreements to install such software. In case Fusion Browser hijacker has invaded your computer already, we can recommend nothing else but removing it ASAP.

Getting rid of FusionBrowser ads?

If the promotional content that Fusion Browser adware sends you annoys you to death, it is time to get rid of them. All you need to do is to uninstall this rogue program and start to use your preferred Internet browser instead. Let's not forget the case if you have already been rerouted to suspicious web pages that were promoted via these doubtful ads. To be sure that your computer is entirely safe and sound, test it with an anti-spyware software. See our recommendations what apps are the best for spyware and malware removal below this text.
