Iios file virus is the ransomware that gives the file a unique marker once it is encoded

Iios ransomware

Iios file virus spreads around silently and quickly, so the infection isn't noticed once it's infiltrating your machine. The threat focuses on file-locking because it is the process that provides a reason for the money demands. File encryption is the process that allows threats to quickly make files useless by altering the original code of the document, image, video file. Markers on encoded files indicate the infection and the name of the ransomware.

You may encounter speed issues or performance problems as a result of this malware's existence, but there are no other symptoms otherwise. When common files get locked those get marked with a .iios extension. This is when the file-locking is done and the ransom demands get delivered via a text file on the machine.

Crypto-extortionists are demanding ransom for file recovery. These criminals promise users that they'll restore data on your infected computer in exchange for payment, but there is no guarantee when or if these tools will come, so people should ignore all of their claims being made by these cryptocurrency extortionists. Experts[1] recommend staying away from the criminals and do not consider paying them.

The file-locker virus can do damage before you even see those renamed files. But the removal of this nasty program is critical for your data recovery, as there are very limited options available to help with these cases – so it's impossible at this time to recover what has been lost. Other options for file recovery are relying on backups or third-party tools which will be helpful.

However, note that payment transfer is never a solution. Criminals don't deserve our trust or money. The .iios extension is given to all encrypted files after they're locked by the virus using an army-grade encryption algorithm.[2] Then the ransom demand message appears. The ransom note _readme.txt text file includes instructions on how you can recover your data if it was encrypted. Criminals claim that file-locking happened due to a strong key that cannot be broken without paying off $980 in cryptocurrency.

Instead of responding directly to the attacker or going through their email via support@sysmail.ch, supportsys@airmail.cc  rely on virus removal instead – there are no guarantees that files can be recovered by criminals! Do not fall for the methods of offering discounts too.

The threat family with decryption options

The file virus Iios has been associated with the known Djvu ransomware family that has stealthily spread around for years. This pesky program will show up on your computer screen without anyone realizing what happened- until you see these markers at end of the original name of files.

While there are some decryption options available for this type of malware infection, it's important to note that data recovery won't work if you don’t remove Iios ransomware right away. If your computer has already been infected with these threats and they remain active on our system without being spotted by an anti-virus program or deleted completely then more permanent damage can happen inside the machine.

Iios file virus

The recent ransomware strains in the family require a unique decryption key that can only be obtained by paying cybercriminals. It is all based on encryption key usage and methods. However, there is another type of virus in the Djvu family that does not operate like this and can be decrypted. it was previously possible and now it is a rare option, but still possible for some.

If your computer got infected with one of the Djvu variants, you should try using Emsisoft decryptor for Djvu/STOP. It is important to mention that this tool will not work for everyone – it only works if data was locked with an offline ID due to malware failing to communicate with its remote servers.

Even if your case meets this condition, somebody from the victims has to pay criminals, retrieve an offline key, and then share it with security researchers at Emsisoft. As a result, you might not be able to restore the encrypted files immediately. Thus, if the decryptor says your data was locked with an offline ID but cannot be recovered currently, you should try later. You also need to upload a set of files – one encrypted and a healthy one to the company's servers before you proceed.

  • Download the app from the official Emsisoft website.
  • After pressing Download button, a small pop-up at the bottom, titled decrypt_STOPDjvu.exe should show up – click it.
  • If User Account Control (UAC) message shows up, press Yes.
  • Agree to License Terms by pressing Yes.
  • After Disclaimer shows up, press OK.
  • The tool should automatically populate the affected folders, although you can also do it by pressing Add folder at the bottom.
  • Press Decrypt.

Removal of the infection

Iios ransomware virus can infect devices quickly because it releases various files with a malware payload. The infection starts off when someone clicks on an infected link or opens up malicious email attachments, which downloads this particular type of malignant code onto your device.

There are a number of serious viruses that can attack your system and lock up valuable files. You may be inclined to pay the ransom, but it's important not to do so. The best way is to remove any infection immediately before harm occurs. The threat can be removed with anti-malware tools like SpyHunterCombo Cleaner or MalwarebytesMalwarebytes because detection rates[3] show the success in such processes.

We recommend removing any infections before continuing because if you don't, your device could get significantly damaged. These threats affect the machine significantly and the damage can be more crucial if the virus is not removed at the time of infection and file-locking. Recovering files when the Iios file virus is still running on the computer.

Intruders can run the encryption again if the new files get added to the system. It comes from all the background processes that this virus launches because the ransomware can control antivirus tool performance or even disable features and functions. System data changes and alterations directly affect the performance and virus removal success, so you need to remove Iios ransomware as soon as possible.

Repairing files damaged by the cryptovirus

Once a computer is infected with malware, its system is changed to operate differently. For example, an infection can alter the Windows registry database, damage vital bootup, and other sections, delete or corrupt DLL files, etc. Once a system file is damaged by malware, antivirus software is not capable of doing anything about it, leaving it just the way it is.

Therefore, we highly recommend using a one-of-a-kind, patented technology of FortectIntego repair. Not only can it fix virus damage after the infection, but it is also capable of removing malware that has already broken into the system thanks to several engines used by the program. Besides, the application is also capable of fixing various Windows-related issues that are not caused by malware infections, for example, Blue Screen errors, freezes, registry errors, damaged DLLs, etc.

  • Download the application by clicking on the link above
  • Click on the ReimageRepair.exe
    Reimage download
  • If User Account Control (UAC) shows up, select Yes
  • Press Install and wait till the program finishes the installation processReimage installation
  • The analysis of your machine will begin immediatelyReimage scan
  • Once complete, check the results – they will be listed in the Summary
  • You can now click on each of the issues and fix them manually
  • If you see many problems that you find difficult to fix, we recommend you purchase the license and fix them automatically.Reimage results
