Safetyremind.xyz is a dubious site disguised to look like a security alert from Norton. Of course, Norton has nothing to do with this fraudulent campaign. The page tries to convince people that their Norton subscription has ended and that their PC is infected by multiple viruses.

The main goal of the site is to redirect users to the official Norton website. Crooks get paid through the affiliate program for every purchase. They can also generate revenue from push notifications. Users report seeing pop-ups that also look like security alerts saying they are infected.

Distribution methods

Pages like Safetyremind.xyz rarely appear in the search results. Usually, they can be found on other shady sites that are unregulated. We recommend not going to pages that you do not know. Especially avoid illegal streaming sites because they are full of deceptive ads and sneaky redirects.

Do not click on random links or ads. Even if the advertisements seem to be promoting legitimate products or services, it is best to go to the source directly. Use legitimate streaming platforms like Netflix or Hulu. They require only a small subscription fee and users are able to watch as much content as they want.

Another possibility is that the site appeared without any user input. That can happen if you are infected by adware. Google Chrome (desktop):

1. Open Google Chrome browser and go to Menu > Settings.
2. Scroll down and click on Advanced.
