ShieldPlus software overview
ShieldPlus is a doubtful application that is described as a tool capable of protecting your web browsers from various cyber threats. Although the developers of it attempt to describe it as an advantageous program, it is not a useful program at all. In fact, security experts categorize it as a potentially unwanted program (PUP) and adware (ad-supported application type). It is worth pointing out the fact that ShieldPlus adware can be installed in a silent way – it is usually distributed together with other freeware programs. When this program enters the system, it starts its suspicious activities immediately. The first thing it does is that it installs ShieldPlus extension onto all web browsers and starts tracking your activity on the Internet. It gathers non-personal information, for example, your browsing history, clicks, search queries, downloads, your e-mail address, IP address and computer geolocation as well. All of this information is required to deliver ‘most relevant’ ads for you.
It is very suspicious activity that this program does – it claims to protect your computer from various risks while in reality it actually exposes it to various dangers. Moreover, it slows down the performance of your computer because it uses PC resources to load up the ‘ads by ShieldPlus.’ As we have already mentioned, it is an ad-supported program, and that is why it is going to send you an endless flow of various promotional content. You are going to receive ‘ads by ShieldPlus,’ ‘ShieldPlus deals’ or ‘ShieldPlus ads’ pop-ups and banners all the time when browsing the Internet. We would like to warn you that these ads might be dangerous. ShieldPlus adware is sponsored by third-parties, and most likely these ads are going to be designed in a way to cause redirects to third-party websites. That means that after clicking on one of such ads you can end up on an entirely unexpected web page.

Aforementioned redirects make pay-per-click revenue for the developers of Shield Plus. What is more, you should not try to explore the content on such websites as they can be filled with dangerous content or/and corrupted hyperlinks. You might accidentally install a malicious file or a program! If you are a security minded person, you should remove ShieldPlus as soon as possible before its ads lead you to harmful web sources. If you are looking for a program that would block advertisements, we recommend installing a reputable anti-spyware and keep it up-to-date. It will remove all adware, including ShieldPlus, and will protect your computer from similar infiltrations in the future. For example, you can use FortectIntego anti-spyware software.
How can ShieldPlus hijack my computer?
Even though it can be installed on its official site, people seldom download it willingly. However, to spread it widely, its developers added ShieldPlus to various programs that can be downloaded from the Internet for free. Typically it is bundled with unknown download managers, video, music or music players and promoted on suspicious websites. However, well-known programs downloaded from reliable sources can also be bundled, so you have to be very careful to prevent installation of bundled programs. Fortunately, it is possible to download you needed program and refuse to install third party applications. For this purpose, you should always opt for Advanced or Custom installation option. This option shows all available checkboxes and allows to deselect those you do not want. For instance, you may be offered to install add-on, plug-in, toolbar, extension, as well as to change a default homepage or default search engine. NEVER accept to do so because it is most likely that you will accept to install adware, potentially unwanted program or browser hijacker. Having installed and keeping ShieldPlus on your computer may annoy you to death and pose harm to your PC’s system.
If you wish to remove this program manually, follow the instructions that are provided on page 2.
