Can you benefit from SnapMyScreen Toolbar?

While some users immediately notice something suspicious about this app and refer to it as “SnapMyScreen Toolbar virus”, others take it for granted, treat it like a typical toolbar [1] and use it for Internet search and other activities. You cannot judge either of these groups, though. Snap My Screen is compatible with all Windows-supported web browsers (Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, etc.) and is presented as a valuable tool that can be used for capturing PC’s screen when needed and may fulfill some of its promised functionalities. However, after testing this program on our computers, we have arrived at a conclusion that it can be easily labeled as “PUP” [2] that may try to redirect you to its affiliate websites and generate advertising revenue [3] for its creators. The SnapMyScreen redirect is usually executed by showing people altered search results or injecting various commercial notifications into the visited websites which may become extremely intrusive when trying to find regular information online. Of course, these advertisements look very convincing and offer good deals, so there is no surprise why there are so many people who have been tricked by SnapMyScreen ads. There is one positive aspect of these ads, though: you can immediately see that your computer has been infected and take steps towards SnapMyScreen removal. Software like ReimageIntego may come in handy when carrying out the elimination, but you may also use manual removal tutorial we have provided just below the article.

SnapMyScreen Toolbar snapshotSnapMyScreen Toolbar is a tool that balances on the verge between being legitimate or potentially unwanted program.

However, ads by SnapMyScreen are not even the main problem related to this toolbar. Before you download it to your computer, you should be aware that this application is capable of tracking people’s searches [4]. It may be used for recording their search queries, mostly visited websites, time spent on each of those sites, data that is entered, etc. No matter that the collected data is non-personally identifiable, you should never let other people (unknown third parties) collect and store any information about you because it may be used for suspicious activities. To stay safe, prevent redirects to suspicious websites and stay away from random pop-up notifications. If the virus has already affected your web browsers, you shouldn’t wait any longer. Please, scan your PC with the reputable anti-spyware and remove SnapMyScreen Toolbar with each of its components. From your computer.

How do PUPs enter computers?

Just like any other suspicious application, SnapMyScreen is distributed using fair and not so honest methods. If you want to prevent unexpected appearance PUPs on your computer, you have to realize that there are lots of free applications that are involved in the distribution of such programs as adware [5] and other PUPs. So, if you fail to monitor their installation process and don’t check what optional components they contain, you can easily be tricked into downloading such programs as SnapMyScreen. Also, you may let them change your PC’s parameters and initiate various activities that should never be allowed. Fortunately, you can do something when trying to avoid such infiltrators. First of all, you can check every free program before downloading it to your computer. For that read End user’s license agreement, Privacy Policy and similar sources of information. If you find something suspicious, you should look for another free application. In addition, make sure you select Custom or Advanced installation method. It will help you to understand what “optional” components your free program has. It there is something mentioned about browser add-ons, plugins, extensions, etc., you should opt out of them. Otherwise, you may start noticing SnapMyScreen redirects during your searches and similar inconveniences.

Recently, the developer of this program contacted us asking us to remove this post from 2-spyware.com website. We believe that we shouldn’t do that as long as programs that we offer for the removal of SnapMyScreen can detect it and help users to remove it from the system. As it is mentioned under each of download buttons, we ARE affiliated with these anti-malware programs, and while some of them are free, others can remove a virus only after purchasing them. These mentions fully fulfill each of the requirements of FTC.

Nevertheless, we have recently decided to make a revision of this and other posts that are related to this developer. We claim that all of them are described properly.

Choose a proper web browser and improve your safety with a VPN tool

Online spying has got momentum in recent years and people are getting more and more interested in how to protect their privacy online. One of the basic means to add a layer of security – choose the most private and secure web browser. Although web browsers can't grant full privacy protection and security, some of them are much better at sandboxing, HTTPS upgrading, active content blocking, tracking blocking, phishing protection, and similar privacy-oriented features. However, if you want true anonymity, we suggest you employ a powerful Private Internet Access VPN – it can encrypt all the traffic that comes and goes out of your computer, preventing tracking completely.

Lost your files? Use data recovery software

While some files located on any computer are replaceable or useless, others can be extremely valuable. Family photos, work documents, school projects – these are types of files that we don't want to lose. Unfortunately, there are many ways how unexpected data loss can occur: power cuts, Blue Screen of Death errors, hardware failures, crypto-malware attack, or even accidental deletion.

To ensure that all the files remain intact, you should prepare regular data backups. You can choose cloud-based or physical copies you could restore from later in case of a disaster. If your backups were lost as well or you never bothered to prepare any, Data Recovery Pro can be your only hope to retrieve your invaluable files.
