Theglossonline.com ads Removal Guide

What is Theglossonline.com ads?

Theglossonline.com presents itself as a legitimate news source

Theglossonline.comTheglossonline.com is a fake website that steals content from others

Theglossonline.com presents itself as a legitimate news source, but that is certainly not true. While the articles the owners post are trustworthy because they are stolen from other popular news sites, the website itself – is not. It tricks users into allowing push notifications, which they think will let them know about new posts, but the page starts sending ads straight to users' screens.

The pop-up ads you receive may be deceptive and lead to dangerous sites where scammers can lure out your personal information and use scare tactics to make you download malicious software. This is because the developers of the web page do not care about user privacy and safety. They do not filter whose ads can be sent through them, and they do not blacklist shady ads. It is not safe to keep the notifications from this website turned on, as it can fool gullible people and make them suffer from monetary losses or identity theft.[1]

This shows that this bogus website was created for one reason only – to make money from pay-per-click advertising.[2] Every time you click on an ad displayed by it, the authors generate revenue. They act as middlemen between advertisers and users. It seems that this method is worth the time because there are thousands of other websites just like this. They do not serve any other purpose.

These dubious sites do not seem to be going away any time soon. The problem is that they are very easily reproducible, so the developers can just copy everything, get a different domain, and do the same thing after one gets exposed. We write about these types of pages every day; some examples include – Recentnewsnow.xyz, Worldtimes.xyz, and Thejornal.xyz.

Users rarely stumble on websites like this by themselves on their search results. They are promoted on other suspicious pages that are full of ads and redirects. People probably think that they will start receiving notifications about the latest world news, but that is not true. You might start seeing messages appear suggesting you check your machine for viruses or attractive girls supposedly writing you because they want to meet you. These can also appear in your own language if the website uses your geolocation.

Theglossonline.com adsAds sent by Theglossonline.com can are annoying and untrustworthy

The ads should not be clicked on. We recommend removing them as soon as possible because if other individuals like your family members use the same device, they can be exposed to sexual content, which is unsafe for children.

Stop the intrusive ads

It would be best to avoid shady pages that engage in illegal activities because, most times, these websites are not regulated. For example, illegal streaming platforms are filled with deceptive ads and sneaky redirects that lead to pages like Theglossonline.com. They oftentimes also use cookies to track your IP and collect data about your browsing behavior like the websites you visit, searches you make, what you purchase, etc. This information is then later sold to third parties, which can further send you advertisements that are more curated to you.

Cookies and cache are stored on the client's device so that they can slow it down. After you successfully stop the ads from coming, we recommend taking care of your browsers by clearing them. You can do it automatically with FortectIntego. It will delete the information websites have collected about you and will improve performance. You can also do this manually, but this might take a while to do if you have many different browsers. In any case, the guide for that is below the post.

Adware sneaks into your system without your knowledge

If the previous removal method did not work, it means you might have installed a PUA and you have to eliminate an app that is performing these tasks in the background. Using SpyHunter 5Combo Cleaner or Malwarebytes would make the process easier for you as they can automatically remove it by scanning your system. Doing it manually does not work for everyone, as it is unclear which application is at fault; often, you just have to take guesses, but if you still prefer doing it yourself, here are step-by-step instructions for Windows and macOS:

Instructions for Windows 10/8 machines:

  1. Enter Control Panel into Windows search box and hit Enter or click on the search result.
  2. Under Programs, select Uninstall a program.Uninstall from Windows 1
  3. From the list, find the entry of the suspicious program.
  4. Right-click on the application and select Uninstall.
  5. If User Account Control shows up, click Yes.
  6. Wait till uninstallation process is complete and click OK.Uninstall from Windows 2

If you are Windows 7/XP user, proceed with the following instructions:

  1. Click on Windows Start > Control Panel located on the right pane (if you are Windows XP user, click on Add/Remove Programs).
  2. In Control Panel, select Programs > Uninstall a program.Uninstall from Windows 7/XP
  3. Pick the unwanted application by clicking on it once.
  4. At the top, click Uninstall/Change.
  5. In the confirmation prompt, pick Yes.
  6. Click OK once the removal process is finished.

For macOS users:

  1. From the menu bar, select Go > Applications.
  2. In the Applications folder, look for all related entries.
  3. Click on the app and drag it to Trash (or right-click and pick Move to Trash)Uninstall from Mac 1

To fully remove an unwanted app, you need to access Application Support, LaunchAgents, and LaunchDaemons folders and delete relevant files:

  1. Select Go > Go to Folder.
  2. Enter /Library/Application Support and click Go or press Enter.
  3. In the Application Support folder, look for any dubious entries and then delete them.
  4. Now enter /Library/LaunchAgents and /Library/LaunchDaemons folders the same way and terminate all the related .plist files.Uninstall from Mac 2

Adware is categorized as a potentially unwanted program[3] because it usually disguises itself as a handy tool that users download themselves or gets delivered as bundled software. The way this works is by getting software from unofficial sources that distribute freeware. The distributors still need to make money, so they thought of other ways to monetize.

Many people ignore the installation process and rush through it because they want to try the new program as soon as possible. This is understandable, but you should be more careful – these pages are filled with PUPs or possibly even malware. Always choose the “Custom” or “Advanced” installation methods, this way, no steps will be skipped, and you will be able to read the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.

When you get to the files included in the installer, got through the list carefully and identify if there are files that are not needed. If yes, make sure to untick the boxes next to them and proceed further.

How to prevent from getting adware

Choose a proper web browser and improve your safety with a VPN tool

Online spying has got momentum in recent years and people are getting more and more interested in how to protect their privacy online. One of the basic means to add a layer of security – choose the most private and secure web browser. Although web browsers can't grant full privacy protection and security, some of them are much better at sandboxing, HTTPS upgrading, active content blocking, tracking blocking, phishing protection, and similar privacy-oriented features. However, if you want true anonymity, we suggest you employ a powerful Private Internet Access VPN – it can encrypt all the traffic that comes and goes out of your computer, preventing tracking completely.

Lost your files? Use data recovery software

While some files located on any computer are replaceable or useless, others can be extremely valuable. Family photos, work documents, school projects – these are types of files that we don't want to lose. Unfortunately, there are many ways how unexpected data loss can occur: power cuts, Blue Screen of Death errors, hardware failures, crypto-malware attack, or even accidental deletion.

To ensure that all the files remain intact, you should prepare regular data backups. You can choose cloud-based or physical copies you could restore from later in case of a disaster. If your backups were lost as well or you never bothered to prepare any, Data Recovery Pro can be your only hope to retrieve your invaluable files.
