Uber.com ads. How to remove? (Uninstall guide)

removal by Linas Kiguolis - - | Type: Adware

What might the Uber.com ads suggest about your computer’s health?

While browsing through various tech forums, it is not unusual to come across complaints about Uber.com virus. To make things clear, we should emphasize that there is no such thing as Uber virus. This website, which also has a version of a smartphone app, is completely legitimate and promotes a useful service, allowing users to hire private drivers instead of taxi firms to get to their desired destinations. Uber has millions of happy customers, so the reason why it is associated with cyber infections is quite different. After analyzing the complaints more closely, it becomes obvious that the site itself isn’t the problem. The user dissatisfaction stems primarily from experiencing constant redirects to this particular site as well as having to deal with the annoying Uber ads that pop up on random websites. Pop-up ads or the website itself may suddenly open in separate tabs or new browser windows also. But does that mean you must remove Uber.com and sign out of the site to make all of these unpleasant processes disappear? Definitely not. It is most likely that this company’s affiliates are really the ones to blame. These parties may take part in Uber’s affiliate program just to generate advertising revenue. Since this service is popular and well-known, the advertising companies are trying their best to make the best of it by implementing related ads and redirects wherever possible. Sadly, this means that potentially unwanted programs like adware can be used in the process as well. Instead of displaying web-based ads, these programs stealthily place their executables on the users’ computers, making the advertising significantly more efficient. This way, the predetermined ads may use the virtual layer to overlay the regular advertisements on legitimate sites or implement new ones. You must check your device for such programs regularly by scanning the system with professional anti-malware software such as Reimage or Malwarebytes MalwarebytesCombo Cleaner.

Questions about uber.com ads

Adware that carry ads by Uber.com hijack computers without asking permission. And apart from this carpool service, they may also promote a bunch of other affiliate content. For some time, the appearing ads may even be tolerable as long as the products or services that they offer are legitimate and trustworthy. Nonetheless, most adware do not limit their scope of potential income and may start pushing shady and untrustworthy content as well. Thus, it is only a matter of time when one of these ads will redirect you to a malware-infested site. Besides, adware programs usually affect computer performance as well, so you may expect your browser and other applications to begin working slower than usual or even crash. So, forget about Uber.com removal and start looking for malware that might be lurking on your PC.

Where do these ads come from?

As we have already pointed out, Uber ads do not stem from the site itself but are rather displayed on your browser with the help of questionable advertising software — adware. These programs are quite simple and often balance on the verge of legitimacy, so their creators can easily add them to freeware or shareware software packages as optional components. Users are often even unaware of the extra software that is being installed on their computers simply because they are skipping the “Advanced” or “Custom” settings and try to head straight to using the downloaded program by opting for “Quick” and “Recommended” installation modes. Unfortunately, these modes do not disclose any additional installation options, so you do not have the opportunity to cancel the unwanted ones either. Only the previously mentioned advanced modes provide that ability. You should always choose them when you are installing new programs on your device. This way, you will avoid the intrusive adware that promote Uber.com or any other websites or services.

Can Uber.com removal harm my PC?

Essentially, you should remove Uber.com adware from your PC without leaving a trace. However, it is important to use proper techniques to make sure the removal is successful. You can obtain a reputable antivirus, an anti-malware or anti-spyware utility that would take care of a thorough and safe Uber.com removal. You can also exterminate the virus manually, though using this technique you are at a much greater risk of damaging your computer. While eliminating the virus, you may accidentally delete some important system file, causing your PC to experience malfunctions or crash.

You can remove virus damage automatically with a help of one of these programs: Reimage, Malwarebytes MalwarebytesCombo Cleaner, Plumbytes Anti-MalwareMalwarebytes Malwarebytes. We recommend these applications because they detect potentially unwanted programs and viruses with all their files and registry entries that are related to them.
