Ads from sites created by crooks can lead to other scam pages
Week-tale.xyz is one of many websites created by crooks to monetize user activity. They use social engineering to trick them into subscribing to push notifications. People are led to believe that they need to click on the “Allow” button to verify that they are not robots.
Instead, by performing this action they become subscribed to push notifications. They start getting spammed with annoying pop-up ads that can appear even when the browser is closed. Crooks may use rogue advertising networks that place ads leading to dangerous websites.
People can end up on scam sites that try to lure out personal information, or trick them into downloading PUPs (potentially unwanted programs), and even malware. There is nothing else to explore on this page besides the deceptive message and image. We suggest disabling the pop-ups immediately.
Most of the time, people stumble upon pages like Week-tale.xyz by browsing through shady websites. Usually, there are pages that engage in illegal activities, for example, illegal streaming sites. They are unregulated so they are full of deceptive ads and sneaky redirects.
In some cases, the appearance of scam pages can be caused by adware. It is advertising-supported software that can generate commercial content, like pop-ups, banners, and redirects. It hides in the background so most users have no idea why they are suddenly experiencing this unwanted behavior.
