Hey I’m a little concerned. I received a notification on facebook that my computer might be infected. In the notification I was also offered to download some free scanner to scan my system with. I do not think it is a good idea though..Downloading unknown software… So I came here to ask you for an advice. Is this notification legit?

We have already received some complaints about this issue. It seems that the application that you are offered to download temporarily blocks you from sending Facebook messages if you run it on your computer. So, we do not think such application should be trusted. It is alway better to scan your computer for potential threats with reputable antivirus tools, such as FortectIntego instead of random utilities you may be offered to download online.
