The image of Clean Grill Grates extension

Clean Grill Grates is a Google Chrome extension which operates as an adware program. Usually, experts classify such computer threats as Potentially unwanted programs (PUPs)[1] which typically infiltrates users’ computers without their consent.

Additionally, Clean Grill Grates can be obtained from an official website hxxp://sial.me/. Just by having a quick glance at the webpage, it might seem like this extension is legitimate and useful. The download screen populates fake promises of it being optimized, confidential, lightweight and anti-virus checked. However, it is far from the truth.

This potentially unwanted program usually infiltrates your machine by traveling together with free software. Even though Clean Grill Grates virus mostly affects Google Chrome, there are no guarantees that it might not perform its malicious activities on other browsers, like Mozilla Firefox or Internet Explorer in the future.

Although this adware can not damage your computer files directly, it can irritate you after it gets installed on your system. As soon as Clean Grill Grates infiltrates your computer, it starts numerous suspicious activities which significantly diminish web browsing experience.

You might not only encounter Clean Grill Grates redirect, but also notice the following issues with your PC:

  • An increase in intrusive ads, pop-ups, and redirects, even when browser is not active;
  • Poor system performance and slow response time;
  • Creation of never-seen-before icons on desktop;
  • Constant browser crashes;
  • Website text turned into hyperlinks;

Additionally, Clean Grill Grates might collect information about its users, including personally identifiable[2] details. Even though it mostly uses it for delivering ads which are related to user's interests, it might also sell it to third-parties. Such actions can directly lead to privacy-related issues or even identity theft in some cases.

Likewise, you should remove Clean Grill Grates as soon as you detect it on your system. You might either choose to do it manually with the help of the instructions below or pick an automatic elimination method.

A professional security software can deal with Clean Grill Grates removal in several minutes. This is the fastest way to clean your system from potentially unwanted programs. For that, we recommend using Reimage or Malwarebytes Anti Malware.

Bundling helps adware to infiltrate your machine

There are many different ways adware can get into your workstation. Users are often unaware that they have been infected. Commonly, a deceptive marketing campaign is used, called bundling.

Users tend to download free software from the internet, without a suspicion that it can be deceptive. With bundling, developers of potentially unwanted programs can easily infiltrate gullible users’ machines.

Software download managers disclose the information about such unfair actions in Advanced/Custom settings, which most users tend to dismiss. To prevent the adware from entering your system, you should unmark all pre-selected boxes.

Be aware that, it is not advised to use Recommended/Quick parameters as they eliminate the possibility to de-select any unwanted applications and avoid the adware.

Additionally, there are other ways how a PUP can enter your system:

  1. Clicking on links on social media, malicious websites, intrusive ads;
  2. Opening attachments in spam emails, or clicking links hidden inside;
  3. Clicking on a pop-up that might look like a fake update for legitimate software;
  4. Using Torrent or P2P file sharing sites.

Therefore, it is critical to be vigilant while browsing the internet and installing software. Caution is the key to internet safety.
