Remove Quicky Translator (Improved Guide)

removal by Alice Woods - - | Type: Adware

I’m truly disappointed in the level of compatibility that this web add-on provides! I used to think Quicky Translator is an excellent app for translating. Now, softly saying, this app is dismal! It’s unstable; translations don’t work or work inappropriately. On top of that, it appears to be supported by advertising, so once I’ve installed it, my screen became full of pop-up and banner ads powered by Quicky Translator. So how the hell I should not complain about this dubious app? It now seems to be just like a virus!!

Is everything that is said in the user’s report true? Is Quicky Translator a virus?

Quicky Translator is NOT a virus. However, everything else said in the report provided above is true. This extension is ad-supported. Thus, instead of providing people with the most accurate translations, it starts displaying sponsored advertisements on the websites that people visit. Ads may vary depending on the parties that sponsor them. Some of the third-parties that sponsor Quicky Translator adware may seek to boost traffic to reputable but not yet famous online shops. Thus, clicking on the Quicky Translator ads can make you visit quite interesting sites that correspond to the ads’ content. Unfortunately, but some of the pop-ups may be used as a medium to spread other potentially unwanted programs (adwares, browser hijackers, advertising platforms, etc.). Such “Ads by Quicky Translator” may inform about missing software updates (Java, Flash Player, Download Manager, etc.), claim prize giveaways, prompt to call for remote technical support, and so on.

Questions about Quicky Translator

Besides, this extension is said to be working inappropriately. We have checked it and can firmly assert that it’s an exact truth. The translations provided by this extension are neither accurate nor trustworthy.

In addition to what the user indicated, we would like to add that Quicky Translator virus is also accused of spying on its users. As its developers (Cross T Media) note, this extension is filled with cookies and web beacons that allow collecting some pieces of information automatically. Therefore, if you are not willing to disclose information, such as IP address, PC’s location, email address, search terms, websites visited, pages viewed, clicks, etc., remove Quicky Translator virus from the system ASAP. For this purpose, you can use ReimageIntego.

How can people prevent its installation?

There are three methods that are used to spread Quicky Translator and similar adwares. These are:

  • Misleading official websites;
  • Bundling;
  • Fake pop-up ads;

The majority of adwares have official websites and can be downloaded directly right there. However, developers are not warning people about additional performances that ad-supported programs initiate, which is why people may be very disappointed right after installing such an add-on. Thus, make sure you DON’T install programs that raise any suspicions. Another distribution technique is known as ‘bundling.’ It means that every time you install freeware, you risk ending up with a whole bouquet of unwanted programs. To prevent Quicky Translator virus from settling down on your IE, Chrome, Firefox or Safari, you should check Advanced/Custom settings and opt out of all additional components. Last, but not least, be careful with the pop-up notifications saying that you need to update software (Java, Flash Player, Media Player, etc.). That’s because they are commonly filled with third-party apps and once clicked install them by default. All in all, our recommendation would be to use reputable anti-spyware that would always notify you about PUP and virus attacks.

Quicky Translator FAQ:

Question: Hi! I’ve installed Quicky Translator from the Chrome store. Silly me believed that it will help me with the translations. The problem is that it does NOT work and now I can’t even get rid of it. Could you please help?

Answer: Hello. Yes, Quicky Translator virus is not a kind of a tool that could be treated as useful and reliable. As we have noted above, it is classified as adware and PUP (potentially unwanted program), so we believe that you are tired of seeing misleading pop-ups and being redirects to unwanted domains. If you seek to get rid of it, you should check either check the system with a reliable anti-spyware or perform manual system check using the guide below. We would highly recommend using anti-malware because it’s the best way to get rid of all cyber threats.

Protect your privacy – employ a VPN

There are several ways how to make your online time more private – you can access an incognito tab. However, there is no secret that even in this mode, you are tracked for advertising purposes. There is a way to add an extra layer of protection and create a completely anonymous web browsing practice with the help of Private Internet Access VPN. This software reroutes traffic through different servers, thus leaving your IP address and geolocation in disguise. Besides, it is based on a strict no-log policy, meaning that no data will be recorded, leaked, and available for both first and third parties. The combination of a secure web browser and Private Internet Access VPN will let you browse the Internet without a feeling of being spied or targeted by criminals.

No backups? No problem. Use a data recovery tool

If you wonder how data loss can occur, you should not look any further for answers – human errors, malware attacks, hardware failures, power cuts, natural disasters, or even simple negligence. In some cases, lost files are extremely important, and many straight out panic when such an unfortunate course of events happen. Due to this, you should always ensure that you prepare proper data backups on a regular basis.

If you were caught by surprise and did not have any backups to restore your files from, not everything is lost. Data Recovery Pro is one of the leading file recovery solutions you can find on the market – it is likely to restore even lost emails or data located on an external device.

    Agree! I have installed Quicky Translator in a pack with Java update, so I checked my PC with anti-spyware, which has detected more than ten PUPs and one trojan . Seems i should start worrying about PCs protection more seriously.
