Remove SurfDefense ads (Tutorial) - Virus Removal Instructions

removal by Olivia Morelli - - | Type: Adware

Reasons to uninstall SurfDefense now

SurfDefense virus might seem like a trustworthy program at first sight. On its official web page, it is advertised as a tool that ostensibly can provide “protection against millions of malicious websites, defending you against malware, viruses and phishing scams.” There’s no denying that users would like to protect their computer, however, we are afraid that SurfDefense is not the right tool for that. When we attempted to install this program, we were stopped by a Chrome warning, which said that SurfDefense.exe file might be dangerous. What is more, we analyzed this program’s Terms of Use page, which unveils the developers of it – ClickMeIn Technologies, Ltd. Sadly, we do not believe that their product is designed to defend computers from insecure pages online – we assume that it might even expose you to such content. Based on SurfDefense’s Terms of Use, the program utilizes tracking technologies such as cookies and web beacons[1] to collect data about the user and serve advertisements, which means that this program is an ad-supported software[2].

SurfDefense adwareResearcher shows a security warning from the browser itself, which advises not to download SurfDefense.exe file.

Questions about SurfDefense ads

Usually, computer users find such programs extremely annoying because they display ads in pop-ups, banners, or in-text links on a daily basis. Unexpected pop-ups and banners are obviously bothersome, and what is worse, they might point you to hazardous places on the world wide web. We say so because the developer of this program says it does not endorse or is liable for content shared on external websites[3] accessible via SurfDefense ads and advises to review Privacy Policies of external websites before interacting with content shared on them. Our team believes that exploring these annoying ads by SurfDefense can pose a threat to your PC and therefore we suggest removing this software from your computer. For protection against spyware and malware[4], use anti-malware or anti-spyware software, for instance, Reimage Reimage Cleaner Intego. We have added manual SurfDefense removal at the end of this post, although we highly recommend you to choose an automatic program to remove SurfDefense efficiently.

Distribution of this ad-supported software. How can you avoid installing SurfDefense?

If you are looking for ways to avoid SurfDefense hijack or if you want to learn how to avoid installing any potentially unwanted program, read this paragraph attentively. The main software distribution tricks that helps to trick unsuspecting victims into installing this adware is called software bundling. It allows software developers to group their programs and build software packages that contain two or more pieces of software. The worst thing about a software bundle is that it typically looks like a single program – you can only discover optional items when installing it. Therefore, we suggest you to act carefully when installing new programs and choose Custom/Advanced installation settings[5] in their setup wizards. These settings will reveal the full lis of optional components and allow you to drop off unwanted items quickly – you will need to deselect suggested “recommended downloads” and proceed with the installation.

Remove SurfDefense adware for good

You do not have to suffer from redirects, pop-ups, and other problems because all you have to do to solve them is just remove SurfDefense virus from the system. Reimage Reimage Cleaner Intego is a recommended tool that can help you to solve this problem quickly, however, if you want to try manual SurfDefense removal method first, read these instructions and do as they say. If you have any more questions about the removal or this adware program, do not hesitate and contact 2-Spyware staff.

Access your website securely from any location

When you work on the domain, site, blog, or different project that requires constant management, content creation, or coding, you may need to connect to the server and content management service more often. It is a hassle when your website is protected from suspicious connections and unauthorized IP addresses.

The best solution for creating a tighter network could be a dedicated/fixed IP address. If you make your IP address static and set to your device, you can connect to the CMS from any location and do not create any additional issues for server or network manager that need to monitor connections and activities. This is how you bypass some of the authentications factors and can remotely use your banking accounts without triggering suspicious with each login.

VPN software providers like Private Internet Access can help you with such settings and offer the option to control the online reputation and manage projects easily from any part of the world. It is better to clock the access to your website from different IP addresses. So you can keep the project safe and secure when you have the dedicated IP address VPN and protected access to the content management system.

Backup files for the later use, in case of the malware attack

Computer users can suffer from data losses due to cyber infections or their own faulty doings. Ransomware can encrypt and hold files hostage, while unforeseen power cuts might cause a loss of important documents. If you have proper up-to-date backups, you can easily recover after such an incident and get back to work. It is also equally important to update backups on a regular basis so that the newest information remains intact – you can set this process to be performed automatically.

When you have the previous version of every important document or project you can avoid frustration and breakdowns. It comes in handy when malware strikes out of nowhere. Use Data Recovery Pro for the data restoration process.
