Help! I’ve been hit with WannaCry ransomware and it locked all off my files! I can no longer open them. The virus promised to delete my files if I won’t pay the ransom within 7 days. It also said that the ransom price, which is now $300, will be doubled if I won’t pay in 3 days. I hope that this is a scam and it is possible to restore these locked files somehow. Can you help?

The WannaCry ransomware reportedly affected over 230k computers worldwide since the launch of the massive cyber attack on 12 May 2017. This ransomware corrupts files in a way that they cannot be restored without having the private decryption key, which, sadly, is stored on criminals' servers. There is no way to guess the key or to retrieve it. Therefore, the only possible data recovery solution is to use a data backup or use methods described in this article - WannaCry ransomware: how to remove the virus and restore your files?
