Securesurfs.biz virus. How to remove? (Uninstall guide)

Securesurfs.biz virus

Securesurfs.biz browser hijacker is a questionable computer program that touches web browser settings to make http://Securesurfs.biz/ the default start page and also the main search provider. This potentially unwanted program (PUP) is almost identical to Securesurf.biz, which has been spotted back in 2016.

The developer of both browser hijackers[1] is Imali – N.I. Media Ltd., a company that is a well-known developer of various browser hijackers such as Search.mystartabsearch.com or Funtabcybersearch.com. Secure Surfs website provides a search engine and eight shortcuts to websites such as Gmail, Twitter, Facebook, and others. Unfortunately, all search phrases entered into this search engine will be sent to nova.rambler.ru search engine and consequently the user receives Rambler/search results.

This search engine is known to be untrustworthy, and we are sure that you will shortly notice how many ads it serves. You will have to scroll down to see the real search results, although you can never know what links hide behind them as well. In the worst scenario, you might end up on malicious or simply deceptive sites without expecting it.

In general, we do not recommend using this search engine as it is being used as a tool to drive traffic to predetermined sites instead of providing results that could be useful to the user. For this reason, you might want to remove Securesurfs.biz. We have added a tutorial on how to do it at the end of this post.

Another reason to get rid of this questionable piece of software is the fact that it collects some information about user’s activities online, including search queries, URLs of websites visited, impressions and clicks, as well as IP address. What is suspicious is that the author of this search tool admits sharing such information with third parties, but warns that once shared, the information becomes subject to the other third party’s privacy practices.

In other words, your information can easily end up in the hands of someone who wants to use it for bad purposes, and you won’t be able to stop it from doing so. The developers of this suspicious software claim to be collecting personally identifiable information when the user provides it, but such personally identifiable information is not shared with any third-parties, according to the privacy policy of Imali Media.

However, we do not think that you should continue using such vague search tool, so we suggest you perform Securesurfs.biz removal using trustworthy anti-malware tools such as Reimage.

Keeping computer free of potentially unwanted programs is easy

It is easy to prevent potentially unwanted programs from sneaking into your computer system; however, many computer users do not know how to avoid them. The majority of people who get attacked by browser hijackers tend not to pay attention to software installation settings. Research by Vayarasa.in team[2] shows that this particular hijacker has tricked many Indian computer users into installing it.

The truth is, almost every free program suggests installing one or a couple of free programs alongside it in order to earn pay-per-install revenue. If you do not want to install questionable additions, you have to modify the settings of the installer. You need to switch the selection from Default/Standard to Custom/Advanced and then deselect every extra program suggested to you[3].
