What should you know when Total Deal Search ads show up on the browser?

Total Deal Search ads might be annoying and make browsing the web unbearable. Just like Terrific Shopper ads, these also provide various discount coupons, deals, and other supposedly beneficial offers for online shoppers[1]. Sadly, these ads are barely useful. What is more, some ads and pop-ups might cover the whole screen, do not have or have inactive close buttons. For this reason, users are forced to enter to the third-party websites. Seeing these ads notifies about computer infection. Ads by Total Deal Search are caused by a particular adware program that mostly travels in the software bundles. As soon as this adware gets inside the system, it starts generating and delivering an excessive amount of commercial content. The purpose of all ad-supported programs is to generate revenue from users’ clicks[2]. Hence, you can suspect that developers do not care how these ads might annoy users; all they care about is getting as much money as possible. However, Total Deal Search adware might deliver ads that lead to the shady or potentially dangerous websites[3]. Visits to these sites might end up with malware attack[4] or loss of the personal information. For instance, you might be alerted about detected viruses on your computer and offered to purchase the software. When buying fake software, you may be asked to reveal your personal details, for instance, credit card information.

So-called Total Deal Search virus delivers ads that might be labeled as “Powered by XXX,” “Ads by XXX,” “Brought to you by XXX,” and similarly. These ads might look interesting and useful because they are often based on your recent search queries. The adware might be capable of tracking information about the users[5], which is often related to the browsing habits and experience that allows building users’ profile. Aggregated data might also be shared or sold to the third-parties or advertising networks. Hence, that minute when you notice these on the browser, you should scan your computer with an anti-malware program (e.g. Reimage, Malwarebytes Anti Malware) and perform Total Deal Search removal. These ads won’t stop if you let adware to stay on your machine. As you already know, this program might also put your computer and privacy at risk. If you do not prefer installing additional software, you can always get rid of the adware manually. Please, scroll down to the end of the article where you find instructions how to remove Total Deal Search manually.

How do adware programs appear on the computers?

Nevertheless, this program has an official website that offers to install plugin to Google Chrome, it is inactive. Hence, it seems that Total Deal Search virus is spreading using bundling technique. It allows adding the program as an optional component in the software package. When installing freeware or shareware, users have to check whether they install a single program or a package. For doing this, people have to choose Advanced/Custom installation settings and carefully look through each installation step. That’s the only way to protect a computer from Total Deal Search hijack. Sadly, the majority of computer users rely on Quick/Standard settings. However, we want to remind that they are not worth trusting. Using this configuration all additional applications, that might be attached to the package, are installed by default.

How should I treat Total Deal Search adware?
