Remove WebSearcher adware (Improved Instructions) - Aug 2016 update

removal by Julie Splinters - - | Type: Adware

What do we know about the WebSearcher virus so far?

WebSearcher virus can first seem like a useful application to have on your computer, but in reality, it is an adware-type infection you should avoid keeping installed on the computer. It claims to improve your browser with a new feature which allows displaying search results from your favorite sites directly from the window you are browsing on. While this seems to be a great option, the actual program does not perform the functions it initially offers. On the opposite, instead of improving the quality of your browsing WebSearcher diminishes it. Thus the security experts categorize it as an adware and potentially unwanted program (PUP). There are several other traits that make this extension a risky application to have on your PC. First of all, WebSearcher hijack computers without the user’s consent. Secondly, it displays various pop-ups, online ads, coupons and other sponsored content on your visited websites regardless of your whether you are interested in seeing them or not. Finally, it may gather personally identifiable information which can later be shared with some unknown third parties. So why wait till some malicious ad redirects you to an infectious domain, or your information is exposed to suspicious third parties? Get over with the WebSearcher removal as soon as possible and enjoy a safer browsing.

An illustration of the WebSearcher adware

While WebSearcher ads are rather intrusive, to say the least, they may also trigger a variety of other issues on the infected computer. These ads are placed on a virtual layer which diminishes the browsing experience by frequently popping-up in new tabs and windows. While some ads by WebSearcher redirect to some online stores, other links can send you to some rogue sites that can infect your computer with malware, worms, and viruses. Moreover, WebSearcher adware collects information about your Internet searches, IP addresses, pages you’ve visited, and even some information on your software and hardware. This information is mainly non-personal, but there is a chance that your private data can may be targeted too. Since this adware might share the gathered information with third parties, it might pose a serious threat and even result in identity theft as your personal account details, logins and passwords might be leaked. The sole purpose of WebSearcher is to generate income to its developers which they receive for displaying ads and sharing your data with third parties. There are plenty of similar adware viruses like VeriBrowse, Provider, Clever Search, and OptiSpace that operate on the same principle. And since such programs are threatening the safety of your data, we highly advise you to remove WebSearcher from your computer as well. Do not wait and do it immediately using some trustworthy anti-spyware like ReimageIntego.

The main principles of adware distribution:

It is very likely that you do not recall downloading WebSearcher virus on your computer. Besides, who would consciously install an entirely useless program on their computers? The trust is, these programs usually enter computers deceptively, so it was probably installed on your system without you even suspecting it. The technique these programs often employ for computer infiltration is called “bundling.” It refers to the stealthy installation of third party software together with some software (usually free) which the user initially intended to install. The potentially unwanted programs are generally hidden in “Advanced” and “Custom” options. Therefore, we advise you to be attentive when installing free software and not to skip any steps without inspecting them first. What is more, you should avoid download managers and all sorts of installers which usually distribute bundled files.

Will you be able to remove WebSearcher from your computer yourself?

Protect your privacy – employ a VPN

There are several ways how to make your online time more private – you can access an incognito tab. However, there is no secret that even in this mode, you are tracked for advertising purposes. There is a way to add an extra layer of protection and create a completely anonymous web browsing practice with the help of Private Internet Access VPN. This software reroutes traffic through different servers, thus leaving your IP address and geolocation in disguise. Besides, it is based on a strict no-log policy, meaning that no data will be recorded, leaked, and available for both first and third parties. The combination of a secure web browser and Private Internet Access VPN will let you browse the Internet without a feeling of being spied or targeted by criminals.

No backups? No problem. Use a data recovery tool

If you wonder how data loss can occur, you should not look any further for answers – human errors, malware attacks, hardware failures, power cuts, natural disasters, or even simple negligence. In some cases, lost files are extremely important, and many straight out panic when such an unfortunate course of events happen. Due to this, you should always ensure that you prepare proper data backups on a regular basis.

If you were caught by surprise and did not have any backups to restore your files from, not everything is lost. Data Recovery Pro is one of the leading file recovery solutions you can find on the market – it is likely to restore even lost emails or data located on an external device.
