I got some sort of virus that was wreaking havoc on my system for a while. I've managed to kill off most of it, however every time I restart my system now, my windows automatic updater is disabled. One line in this registry in particular that I'm suspicious of is: O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [BMbbb0ea37] Rundll32.exe "C:\WINDOWS\system32\htcmbqfk.dll",s
Can anyone tell me what that dll does?

well i hate to say it, but this tool didnt help me at all it seems. my computer is still infected and still experiencing the same symptoms. The symptoms as of now are as follows:

1) Every time I restart my computer, my Windows Automatic Updater is shut off and cannot be turned back on.
2) My internet access is limited. This effect is sort of odd because I'm allowed to access certain pages/search engines, but not others. For example, I can no longer access yahoo, however if I do a search for it through MSN and click on the cached version of yahoo's page, it will show. I am able to access Google, but it will just time out when I try to do a search. I'm completely stumped on this one.
3) Spybot's TeaTime application keeps showing me that my computer is attempting to make certain registry changes that I'm not creating, thus leading me to belive that there is deffinitely still something going on. I deny the registry changes, and set it to remember my decision, but it just keeps trying and trying and trying.
4) I got so fed up with everything that I went and purchased Spyware Doctor. It detected far more than Spybot did, however after Spyware "supposedly" fixed all of my problems, the same problems continue to happen, and the virus replicates itself and shows up again in scans every time I restart my computer.

If anyone has any further suggestions that will not require me spending more money, I'd really appreciate it. I've already spent about 5 working days trying to battle this thing, and I just want to be done with it. Thanks.

hello there,
unfortunately there's no perfect antispyware, one detects things that other doesn't etc. however i suggest you give spybot and spywaredoctor one more chance, update the programs and run a scan. if that doesn't help, i recommend using free antispyware software, it won't cost you a thing and it is worth trying. you can download free anti-spyware right here.
