Type: Spyware


Hi,
Has anyone come across the spyware named above. My computer is already infected by it. Interestingly, Trend Micro detects it and blocks it, which results in frequent pop-ups, but it isn't able to detect it by scanning so I've been unable to remove it. I've tried several free spyare programs-Spybot, Lavasoft, Windows Defender, another one or two-but none have isolated it. Anyone have any clues as to how to proceed? Appreciate any help. Thanks

as trend micro wasn't able to delete it i assume it is not a virus but some sort of malware. and as your antispyware tools hadn't helped you much, this malware must be pretty new. i suggest you run install hijackthis : http://www.2-spyware.com/review-hijackthis.html and post your log at this forum section : http://www.2-spyware.com/forum/forum8

I tried your suggestions. Spyware still going strong. How do I remove problematic processes if I'm unable to identify them by name or enter files and paths if I don't know which ones they are? Using command prompt, no files, hidden or otherwise were identified.

i see there's "O13 - Gopher Prefix:" thing on your log, it's dedicated to add certain prefix to every url on web browser and redirect it to wrong address. even if it's not working this way on your computer, you should delete this things. you can do it with hijackthis, run the tool, find O13 - Gopher Prefix: and click FIX this. please then post a new log at HijackThis log analysis forum section : http://www.2-spyware.com/forum/forum8
