Hey everyone. I'm running a Dell laptop I got a little over two years ago. Pentium 4, 768 MB Ram. It's been working nice until about a week ago. I turned it on one morning and Norton Internet Services 2006 stopped coming up. I went to check it out, but it said I "didn't have permission" to change it. I thought this was weird so I turned to the Windows Security program, however that too has locked me out of everything (all the check boxes are greyed out). Now I'm having problems with my internet (used to run FireFox, on IE now) and my email. I've attached a HijackThis log and would be grateful if someone could look it over for me. Thanks in advance.

Hi, WhiteMage33. Welcome to 2-Spyware.com forums!
It looks like your system is infected with some parasites. Please follow these steps in order to get rid of them:
1. Download the KillBox utility.
2. Click on the Start button, then select Run... and type in msconfig. This should launch the Windows Configuration Utility. Select the Services tab within it and find the following entry:
Local Security Authority Subsystem Service (lsass)
Uncheck it and apply changes by pressing the Apply button.
3. Use HijackThis to fix the following entries:
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyServer = http=127.0.0.1:8080
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {5C8B2A36-3DB1-42A4-A3CB-D426709BBFEB} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: Accoona Search Assistant - {944864A5-3916-46E2-96A9-A2E84F3F1208} - C:\Program Files\Accoona\ASearchAssist.dll (file missing)

4. Now reboot your system into Safe Mode. This step is very important!
5. Use KillBox to delete the following files:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\imjp81k.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\dmtnd.exe
6. After you get done, restart your computer, run another HijackThis scan and post a fresh log here. |

Thank you very much for your help so far. I did exactly as you instructed. Your directions worked fine, except for two things.
"O23 - Service: Local Security Authority Subsystem Service (lsass) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\lsass.exe (file missing)" didn't show up my HijackThis search when I was going to fix it (probably because it was turned off in step 2?)
Also, when I was in Safe Mode, and ran KillBot, it told me the file "C:\WINDOWS\system32\dmtnd.exe" no longer existed. The other one was still there and was deleted.
Here's that new scan. Once again, thank you for all your help.
