My computer was recently infected by pesttrap. I managed to get rid of it with a registered version of spyware doctor but I suspect that some files are still corrupted. My Task Manager is still disabled for example.
A copy of the HiJackThis Log analysis is attached. Please advise as to what action to take.

Please follow these steps:
1. Download Pocket KillBox or KillBox utility.
2. Use HijackThis to fix the following entries:
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = c:\secure32.html
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyOverride = <local>
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [eventwvr] C:\WINDOWS\System32\eventwvr.exe
O4 - Global Startup: Digital Line Detect.lnk = ?
O4 - Global Startup: hpoddt01.exe.lnk = ?

3. Now restart your system in Safe Mode. This step is very important!
4. Once in Safe Mode, use Pocket KillBox or KillBox to delete the following file:
C:\WINDOWS\System32\eventwvr.exe
5. Restart your computer. Download the trial version of ewido anti-malware. Install it, update its malware definitions and run a complete system scan. Then remove all the parasites ewido anti-malware will find.
6. After you get done, please run new HijackThis scan and post a fresh log here. |
