I wonder if I can send Total Velocity a bill for the 17 hours I spent trying to remove this from my system?

Thanks. I found that out the hard way but I could not find the right way to explain it.

Look for a dll file called "mad.dll" It should be in "C:WindowsSystem32mad.dll"
Open that file in note pad and find "Tvm.exe"
Hint it is near the bottom of the file.
If you find a way to get rid of this file you will have a chance to get rid of "TV Media"
Good luck.

Microsoft IS doing something. Check out the web site.
"Microsoft has become aware that some users are experiencing difficulties installing Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2). After investigation, some of these issues have been tracked to an incompatibility between Windows XP SP2 and an adware package from Total Velocity Corporation. This package, commonly known as T.V. Media, is bundled with certain advertisement-supported applications such as Speed Blaster and Memory Meter. In accordance with the End User License Agreement (EULA) for these applications, three additional files are installed on a user’s system; these files form the advertisement data-gathering and reporting mechanism. As part of its protection mechanism, the T.V. Media adware files monitor certain registry keys to prevent removal of the adware program. This monitoring mechanism uses certain functions in a manner that results in registry corruption during the installation of Windows XP SP2.
Microsoft has released a tool to help you remove the T.V. Media adware files from your computer. You can download this tool from the Microsoft Download Center and run it on your computer to remove the T.V. Media files. Be aware that this may result in the applications with which T.V. Media was bundled from functioning. Users should uninstall these applications before running this tool and before installing Windows XP SP2."

Right People, do you work for Total Velocity?
29. by Guest. 2004-10-13 15:10:28
All the complaining and whining about TV Media (which I agree is an insidious little piece of crap) everyone blames them for making it bahave this way...
No one has blamed Microsoft for allowing this kind of theing to work in their Operating System...
Stop TV Media and someone else will pop up doing the same thing next week.
Get Microsoft to focus on Security the way they focus on bilking the consumer and the problem goes away forever.
How do you get Microsoft to focus on Security?
Easy, Spend money on Linux instead of Microsoft and tell Microsoft that you did and why you did it. (It really doesn't matter if you USE Linux or not *but you really should try it), what matters is that you give some Linux vendor some money and that Microsoft KNOWS that some of your money went somewhere else because of their crappy security......)

If a simple uninstall worked, do you really think we would be on this site looking for help? I can remove all references to TV Media, but every time I launch IE, the TV Media folder gets created again in Program Files.
