I recently had a program saying that I need an update for Chrome. It automatically updated the Microsoft.net framework to 4.5.2. Now Chrome won’t open. I tried to restore my computer (twice), but still no Chrome. If I reinstall the browser will it work? I assume I’ll lose all my bookmarks. Google Chrome is my default browser, I really don’t want to lose all my bookmarks. Any suggestions?
It seems that you're having a problem with Chrome Update Center malware. This rogue software is known for displaying fake update notifications, which once clicked download “update_2019_02.browser-components.zip” file, which carries a Trojan. Therefore, if you clicked on a fake software update, you might have downloaded a Trojan, which compromised Google Chrome and other system settings. For more information, please refer to this article.
A quick solution would be to run a full system scan with a professional AV tool. You'll be able to remove a Trojan or another malware this way only. After that, try installing Google Chrome. If you had Chrome set to synchronize to your account, then all you need is to sign in to the same account as previously and the bookmarks should be automatically synced. Otherwise, you may need to set bookmarks from the start.
