One safety check I always tell people to do: in your browser, review the site permissions for camera, microphone, notifications, and clipboard. Scam pages often trick you into allowing one of them, and then keep bothering you later. If a random site got permission, remove it right away.

One practical check people miss: in Chrome, Edge, or Firefox, make sure pop-ups and redirects are blocked. Scam pages often open extra tabs or fake “virus alerts” after one bad click. If a site keeps forcing new windows, close it and don’t keep trying to get through.
