Data recovery software will not necessarily help you to retrieve your files, once they are encrypted by Petya virus. Of course, some of them are rather powerful and may be of use in unlocking at least some of your files. You can try PhotoRec, Kaspersky virus-fighting utilities or R-Studio. However, before you try to unlock your files you have to make sure you have the right tools to delete the virus itself. We recommend using a reputable antivirus software such as FortectIntego. You should first try disconnecting your computer from the network and then run a scan of your system with the mentioned antivirus suite. The antivirus will detect and eliminate infectious virus components. In this way, you can be sure that your computer is virus-free and you can upload new files or retrieve old ones from a backup safely.
We hope you find this information useful and manage to unlock or, at least, delete Petya virus from your computer.
Good luck,
