I think the bigger worry is more spam and scam emails, but even a few personal details can be used to make messages look more convincing. If anything odd shows up on your Windows PC, I would be extra careful with links and attachments.
That is a very worrying breach. I would be checking my accounts for anything odd and changing passwords where I can, but I always get nervous about what else I should be watching for after something like this.
Thank you so much, Paul. I removed the Allow entry and checked the other site permissions like you said, and the notices stopped right away. That was exactly what I needed.
Thank you. I tried looking in the site settings, but it is still not fixed. I can see Foritatoginia.com still listed there with Allow, and the pop-ups keep coming. What should I try next?
Thank you, Oliver. That helps a lot. I think it was only on one site, but I am not fully sure yet. I will check the browser notifications and extensions like you said.
Thank you, this is helpful. I did not realize browser notifications could keep coming like that after I clicked Allow by mistake. Is there a way to check the little box in the corner for other sites too?
That sounds a lot like a scam pop-up to me. I would check Windows Security from the Start menu myself, not from the pop-up. Did it keep coming back after you closed it?
I would be a bit careful with that, because those update pop-ups can be fake. I had one that looked proper too, and I closed it and checked the browser through normal settings instead. Did yours open by itself?
Yes, that is exactly what worries me too. I have been changing a few passwords and watching for odd sign-in notices in the little box in the corner. Have you had any real account alerts yet?
Thank you, Hannah. I understood that the extension was coming back after restart, which is really unsettling. I have seen people mention that before, but I am not sure what else they had to do. Did you also check the browser’s startup settings?
