Mobogenie Removal Guide

What is Mobogenie?

Mobogenie is the ad-supported software that pushes other tools and extensions, so online traffic gets redirected to commercial sites

Mobogenie Mobogenie is the adware that relates other ad-supporter applications and can install PUPs without your permission.

Mobogenie is a potentially unwanted program that can occur on the mobile phone or PC from various deceptive sources. The main form of this PUP is third-party application provider that bundles such programs like browser hijackers or adware with useful-looking software for the easy PUP spreading. The significant amount of users reported about this intruder on their mobile devices and raises questions about the legitimacy of the service.[1]

Although users even call it a Mobogenie virus, this is not a malicious program that can damage the machine. The program can be classified as a potentially unwanted and adware because it focuses on advertising material delivery and online traffic redirects caused by a single click on the pop-up, banner or the initial website. This is the behavior common for tools used to generate pay-per-click revenue.

Programs like this MoboGenie adware are not wanted on the mobile phones especially since all the commercial content fills up the screen and keeps the user from accessing needed material or even makes the closing the pop-up or pop-under impossible. Android customers are more affected than others, but iPhone users shouldn't think that iOS is immune to PUPs.[2]

Mobogenie is a legit program that can be installed on computer and smartphone on purpose, although it comes intrusively in most cases. Developers claim that Mobogenie offers the place to push and distribute your programs. There is no need to use this less secure copy of the Google Play Store or Apple Store. This program is even promoted as a useful tool that can allow people to publish, manage, and share their content. However, there is no need to trust the service and the website.

That's why hundreds of users have installed it on their devices consciously. Indeed, we do not doubt that Mobogenie can't fulfill what is promised on its official website. Even more, it seems that it has recently been upgraded for eliminating lots of its bugs, so it might be that there will be more people who will decide to try it.

However, if you are using the older version, you should know that it may cause commercial pop-up ads, banners, and other notifications during your browsing. These Mobogenie ads may be filled with sponsored links that may lead you to affiliate websites.

Mobogenie adsMobogenie is the specific type of malware that shows advertisements to redirect online traffic to affiliated pages websites.

If you have been suffering from Mobogenie redirects for a while, you should renew this application or get rid of it, since there are many reliable alternatives. Moreover, it was known that this program had been used for spreading other programs in bundles.

Since there is a huge possibility that the adware itself came with other bundled applications, you need a thorough Mobogenie removal and system scan to make sure that the computer is not damaged. Rely on professional anti-malware tool and run the full scan of the device, then follow suggested steps and terminate all the PUPs indicated as suspicious.

Mobogenie adware can install other contents, in-browser extensions, plugins, tools, and cause more frustration than those redirects in the first place. All the additional applications create more processes running on the machine, so the general performance and speed of the computer get diminished.

Programs that had been promoted using this technique were Conduit Search, Outobox, SecretSauce, Shopping Helper Smartbar, and similar PUPs. If you found any of these apps on your computer out of nowhere, you should get rid of them. In addition, if you decided to remove Mobogenie, you should use updated FortectIntego or follow a step-by-step guide that is given down below.

Mobogenie virusMobogenie is the in-browser threat that affects mobile devices with Android OS and other digital machines.

Adware and other PUPs are considered dangerous to your privacy

Technically, adware is NOT A VIRUS, so people can easily download it from its official website or such download sites as Cnet. According to information that is given on this site, this app is very popular. However, as we have already mentioned in the first paragraph, you should avoid its older versions.

We can't claim the newer version is spread using bundling, but it was noticed when talking about older variants of this program. If you noticed this program on your PC or smartphone without downloading it, you should think about free programs you have recently installed.

Free programs are often filled with various extensions, plugins, and add-ons, such as browser hijackers or adware. If you want to avoid their infiltration, you should remember the PUP symptoms and features and note the following expert[3] tips:

  • Firstly, read the terms of agreement section before any questionable installation. If you click the next button all the time, you may agree to install optional components without noticing that.
  • Secondly – select advanced or custom installation method and follow the entire installation process one step at a time. Don't be too fast and read everything that is given about the program you are trying to install.
  • Thirdly, opt-out of any additional accessories, such as browser add-ons, plugins, extensions and toolbars.

Remove Mobogenie from the infected system alongside other PUPs or extensions

It seems that there are two groups of people: people who love it and people who hate it. If you are one of those who doesn't like Mobogenie virus redirects to sponsored sites, ads and similar distractions, you can remove this program from your system with the help of professional tools or try manual steps below.

Some people claim that after uninstalling it, it showed up again. It is a common feature of potentially unwanted programs because all these intruders can access registry entries and even alter some of those keys. For avoiding this, you should run a full system scan and remove Mobogenie.

We recommend using anti-malware tools, professional software designed to perform MoboGenie removal and clean other types of cyber threats from the machines as a personal computer. If you encountered these redirects and ads on the mobile phone, rely on the same type of anti-malware applications from official stores.

How to prevent from getting adware

Choose a proper web browser and improve your safety with a VPN tool

Online spying has got momentum in recent years and people are getting more and more interested in how to protect their privacy online. One of the basic means to add a layer of security – choose the most private and secure web browser. Although web browsers can't grant full privacy protection and security, some of them are much better at sandboxing, HTTPS upgrading, active content blocking, tracking blocking, phishing protection, and similar privacy-oriented features. However, if you want true anonymity, we suggest you employ a powerful Private Internet Access VPN – it can encrypt all the traffic that comes and goes out of your computer, preventing tracking completely.

Lost your files? Use data recovery software

While some files located on any computer are replaceable or useless, others can be extremely valuable. Family photos, work documents, school projects – these are types of files that we don't want to lose. Unfortunately, there are many ways how unexpected data loss can occur: power cuts, Blue Screen of Death errors, hardware failures, crypto-malware attack, or even accidental deletion.

To ensure that all the files remain intact, you should prepare regular data backups. You can choose cloud-based or physical copies you could restore from later in case of a disaster. If your backups were lost as well or you never bothered to prepare any, Data Recovery Pro can be your only hope to retrieve your invaluable files.
