Hi!
I’ve installed Simple New Tab by myself. I thought that it’s a useful app, but I was wrong. Now I understand that it’s nothing else but adware that keeps displaying dubious ads. The problem is that Simple New Tab ads some time before offered me to update Java and I hastily took the offer. Can it be that I’ve infected my PC with a virus? It appears to be more sluggish than before, sometimes it even crashes. Besides, I keep receiving suspicious ads. Please help ASAP!

Simple New Tab is offered on various download sources, including official website, so it's not surprising that you have fallen for installing it. Unfortunately, no one indicates explicitly that it's ad-supported and can display sponsored advertisements.
What regards Java updates brought by Simple New Tab adware, there is a low possibility that you might have installed a virus. Such fake software updates are typically used for spreading other potentially unwanted programs (PUPs), so you might have installed a browser hijacker or another adware. If you want to fix your computer, our strongest recommendation would be to initiate a full system check SpyHunter. Its review can be found here: SpyHunter review
