Imme virus Removal Guide

What is Imme ransomware virus?

Should you get terrified by Imme ransomware?

If you have ever heard of the virus called Xorist, we have bad news for you – Imme virus has been detected at large. The original version of the virus has been detecting this malware – teamXRat virus already almost a year ago[1]. Luckily, IT experts have released a decryption tool for Xorist. There is a possibility that it might work for the latter editions as well. Following the steps of its predecessors, the malware appends two types of file extensions: .imme and .imme.teras.completecrypt. The authors also exert pressure on the victims‘ by urging to pay the ransom within 72 hours. Instead of considering ransom payment, it would be better to focus on Imme removal. More information how you can do it properly, find in the last section of this article.

Xorist malware emerged as an ordinary file-encrypting virus using XOR encryption technology. Within a couple of months ago, the cyber villains entered the big arena and attacked Brazillian medical institutions. Due to their system vulnerability and patients‘ data importance, they have been a popular target for hackers[2]. Fortunately, the virus researchers have managed to find vulnerabilities in the crack code and develop a decryptor. As a result, the authors of this malware decided to strike with new crypto-malware. This version which has been named as Imme ransomware due to the file name appended to affected files, it demands 2 bitcoins ($2018,74 )in exchange for the files[3]. Victims are expected to contact the victims and provide their ID via the following email addresses: or

The image of Imme virusImme virus urges to pay the ransom within 72 hours. Otherwise, the amount is likely to rise up.

According to the message, the authors of this malware will send the decryption software and the tutorial. They warn users not to use any third-party decrypters as it leads to a complete loss of the files. However, such warnings are common tactics to frighten users nor to look for alternative solutions. There are no guarantees that Imme ransomware crooks will keep their word and send the decryptor after receiving such huge ransom[4]. What is more, even if the decryptor works, the presence of a possibly fraudulent program on your device may lead to a future Imme hack or the infiltration of similar threats. Therefore, make haste and remove Imme. FortectIntego or Malwarebytes aids in the elimination process.

Is there a way to escape the attack of this ransomware?

Taking into account that this malware is related to Xorist malware, there are two theories about the distribution of this malware: either it spreads via spam emails or exploits kits[5]. Therefore, you need not only pay attention to the spam folder and avoid opening any attachments without confirming the identity of the sender, but install proper malware removal utility as well. The joint operation of an anti-virus and anti-spyware tools will significantly lower the risk of a ransomware. However, even if you get infected with Imme malware or another ransomware, there is a way to delete it and partially if not fully retrieve the files.

Imme removal options

If you have already installed an anti-spyware application, turn off the internet infection and launch the program to remove Imme virus. Do not get surprised of a sudden error message appears – the virus attempts to shut down the security app. In that case, enter Safe Mode and continue Imme removal. Only when the threat is fully terminated, you can advance to the next time. One of the most effective ways to retrieve the files – use backups. In case, you did not prepare them in advance, look up the alternative data recovery recommendations.

These instructions will help you easily launch Safe Mode and remove the virus properly.

Important! →
Manual removal guide might be too complicated for regular computer users. It requires advanced IT knowledge to be performed correctly (if vital system files are removed or damaged, it might result in full Windows compromise), and it also might take hours to complete. Therefore, we highly advise using the automatic method provided above instead.

Bonus: Recover your data

Guide which is presented above is supposed to help you remove Imme from your computer. To recover your encrypted files, we recommend using a detailed guide prepared by security experts.

If your files are encrypted by Imme, you can use several methods to restore them:

Data Recovery Pro option

It is one of the alternatives to decrypt the files if you do not have backup copies of your files.

  • Download Data Recovery Pro;
  • Follow the steps of Data Recovery Setup and install the program on your computer;
  • Launch it and scan your computer for files encrypted by Imme ransomware;
  • Restore them.

How effective is ShadowExplorer?

This program recovers the files affected by Imme ransomware on the basis of volume shadow copies.

  • Download Shadow Explorer (;
  • Follow a Shadow Explorer Setup Wizard and install this application on your computer;
  • Launch the program and go through the drop down menu on the top left corner to select the disk of your encrypted data. Check what folders are there;
  • Right-click on the folder you want to restore and select “Export”. You can also select where you want it to be stored.

Imme Decrypter

There is no specific tool released for this malware, but the decryption tool for Xorist virus might work.

Finally, you should always think about the protection of crypto-ransomwares. In order to protect your computer from Imme and other ransomwares, use a reputable anti-spyware, such as FortectIntego, SpyHunter 5Combo Cleaner or Malwarebytes

How to prevent from getting ransomware

Choose a proper web browser and improve your safety with a VPN tool

Online spying has got momentum in recent years and people are getting more and more interested in how to protect their privacy online. One of the basic means to add a layer of security – choose the most private and secure web browser. Although web browsers can't grant full privacy protection and security, some of them are much better at sandboxing, HTTPS upgrading, active content blocking, tracking blocking, phishing protection, and similar privacy-oriented features. However, if you want true anonymity, we suggest you employ a powerful Private Internet Access VPN – it can encrypt all the traffic that comes and goes out of your computer, preventing tracking completely.

Lost your files? Use data recovery software

While some files located on any computer are replaceable or useless, others can be extremely valuable. Family photos, work documents, school projects – these are types of files that we don't want to lose. Unfortunately, there are many ways how unexpected data loss can occur: power cuts, Blue Screen of Death errors, hardware failures, crypto-malware attack, or even accidental deletion.

To ensure that all the files remain intact, you should prepare regular data backups. You can choose cloud-based or physical copies you could restore from later in case of a disaster. If your backups were lost as well or you never bothered to prepare any, Data Recovery Pro can be your only hope to retrieve your invaluable files.
