If .crab extension is appended to all of your files, it is highly likely that your computer was infected with GandCrab 3 ransomware. The malware family it belongs to is no longer active, and the good news is that it can be decrypted with several decryptors.
Before you do anything, you should backup all the locked files (copy to a USB stick or cloud server). Once that is done, you should run a scan with anti-malware software to make sure that the virus is eliminated completely. Finally, you can use Bitdefender's decryption tool for GandCrab 3 to recover your files.
Note that hackers can use extensions from other malware families, and it can be a new variant of unknown ransomware. Typically, the text or .html file is placed on the desktop or/and into folders where locked files are located. Did you get any ransom notes on your machine? If the ransom note is CRAB-DECRYPT.txt, then it is definitely GandCrab 3.
Good luck,
