Remove WPM virus (Removal Guide)

removal by Julie Splinters - -   Also known as WpManager | Type: Adware

Facts about WPM:

WPM (also known as WPM18.8.0.212, WpManager, etc.) is a potentially unwanted program that is related to Nation Zoom, Sweet Page, and alike potentially unwanted programs (PUPs). This infamous program is known for an arbitrary downloading ad-supported program to the victim’s computer. As soon as WPM is installed on the system, this program may cause system’s modifications that additionally help these hijackers or similar computer parasites display fake and annoying pop-up notifications, “ads by WPM,” “WPM ads,” “special offer for you by WPM,” and similarly named ads. Also, this rogue app can cause system slowdowns and redirects to unknown and potentially dangerous websites. In addition to this, if WPM adware hijacks the computer, it usually drops its own process, which is called Wprotectmanager.exe, and also starts gathering information about its owner. Moreover, you may notice changes on your Internet browsers (Opera, Safari, Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, etc.): your homepage and default search engine may be replaced with another rogue web search related website.

We do not recommend ignoring these changes because you may be tricked into visiting unfamiliar or insecure websites by clicking on search results generated by such fake search engines or by clicking on misleading pop-up ads. It can happen because these kinds of sources can contain suspicious redirecting hyperlinks. Unfortunately, we can assure you that the majority of these hyperlinks can end you up on suspicious or even harmful websites, so it is highly recommended NOT to use never-seen search sites and NOT to click on over-intrusive ads. In addition, if you have noticed Wprotectmanager.exe in your Windows Task Manager, you should immediately scan your computer with reliable anti-spyware like ReimageIntego. Otherwise, you may notice annoying redirects, system crashes and similar issues and interferences that may be used to preclude regular computer use or even to infect your PC with more serious viruses.

Protect your privacy – employ a VPN

There are several ways how to make your online time more private – you can access an incognito tab. However, there is no secret that even in this mode, you are tracked for advertising purposes. There is a way to add an extra layer of protection and create a completely anonymous web browsing practice with the help of Private Internet Access VPN. This software reroutes traffic through different servers, thus leaving your IP address and geolocation in disguise. Besides, it is based on a strict no-log policy, meaning that no data will be recorded, leaked, and available for both first and third parties. The combination of a secure web browser and Private Internet Access VPN will let you browse the Internet without a feeling of being spied or targeted by criminals.

No backups? No problem. Use a data recovery tool

If you wonder how data loss can occur, you should not look any further for answers – human errors, malware attacks, hardware failures, power cuts, natural disasters, or even simple negligence. In some cases, lost files are extremely important, and many straight out panic when such an unfortunate course of events happen. Due to this, you should always ensure that you prepare proper data backups on a regular basis.

If you were caught by surprise and did not have any backups to restore your files from, not everything is lost. Data Recovery Pro is one of the leading file recovery solutions you can find on the market – it is likely to restore even lost emails or data located on an external device.

That is a serious virus! It brought some other adware programs to my computer. As a result, my screen was so flooded with ads that I had nothing else to do than use my phone to search for solution. My computer was just working TOO SLOW and crashing all the time. I hope that you will not make the same mistake as I did; I got this program by downloading a stupid youtube mp3 downloader. Of course, I installed it using default mode! it was automatically picked, and I did not modify the installation settings. Poor me.

What a freakkkingg program!!! I downloaded SpyHunter because I wanted to scan my computer because I just could not get it why it was acting so weirdly lately. It was slow and my web browser did not work at all. All that I have got from this program was millions of pop-ups that followed me everywhere as I was trying to use the web browser (until the crash, of course, lol). I definitely recommend to kill this virus before it takes the control over your system!
