Crawler is also known as Crawler Search | Type: Browser Plugins

Crawler is not a virus or malware. However, it can definitely be called a totally annoying program, which initiates havoc in people's browsing. According to its victims, this program can easily make you visit crawler.com and other unknown websites when you open your browser and start searching the web. Besides, it may also show you commercial advertisements and start collecting search terms or other information from your search queries. If you found Crawler.com instead of your start page and default search engine, it means that it has infiltrated your machine. In this case, you should check the system with updated anti-spyware and remove Crawler from the system. Otherwise, you should be prepared for unexpected redirects and similar issues.

HOW CAN CRAWLER INFILTRATE MY COMPUTER?

Just like hundreds of other potentially unwanted programs, Crawler spreads in a bundle with freeware and shareware. If you want to avoid this virus, you have to pay more attention to the installation process of such applications and, typically, find the check mark that agrees to download Crawler, set creawler.com as a start page or default search engine. If it managed to infiltrate your operating system, you can expect that soon it will start browser hijacking and other activities. No matter that it can hardly infect your machine with malware, it may show you annoying banner ads, in-text advertisements and similar notifications. In order to avoid these problems, we recommend you to check your computer with updated anti-spyware and remove Crawler.

HOW TO REMOVE CRAWLER?

If you see that your browser redirects you to Crawler.com, there is a huge possibility that Crawler virus is inside your computer. In this case, you should scan the system with one of these anti-spywares: STOPzilla, SpyHunter, Malwarebytes Anti Malware. Once you finish a scan, follow manual removal steps and fix settings that were altered by this virus:

Crawler properties:
• Changes browser settings
• Connects itself to the internet

What is browser hijacker?

Browser hijacker is a malicious program, usually a web browser plug-in or add-ons, which modifies web browser settings in order to change default search page, home page, new tab or error page. After that, it starts unwanted redirects to undesirable Internet sites. A browser hijacker also can record all web pages the user visits and send gathered information out through a background Internet connection.

Practically all browser hijackers are created for commercial, advertising or marketing purposes. However, there are lots of malicious versions of these programs that similarly to spyware or adware threats can be installed on the system without user's consent and often hide deep inside the system for avoiding their removal.

Symptoms showing that your computer was infected by Crawler:

•  Changes in homepage and/or default search engine
•  Redirects to websites that are unknown and suspicious
•  Appearance of new tabs
•  Unknown sites in Bookmarks and Favorites list
•  Decreased speed of every Internet browser

I uninstalled Crawler from Programs and Features "successfully" twice, it was under two different names: Crawler and another name that started with P (sorry I was so mad that I completly forgot to write it down). But unfortunately its still in the background and showing up everytime I open the web browser.

How did I get it? : I used a translator site althoughi didnt sign up for the service, just by browsing their site, the Crawler attached itself.
