MagicControl memory-resident downloader Trojan carries a payload that terminates certain processes, some firewalls and anti-virus products. Works on Windows 95, 98, NT, ME, 2000 and XP systems It has been reported than MagicControl installs Instant Access Dialer.

MagicControl properties:
• Changes browser settings
• Hides from the user
• Stays resident in background

Automatic MagicControl removal:

Delete registry values:
Browse to the key:
'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Run'
delete the values 'cpntmgc', 'MC', 'mslagent'.
Browse to the key:
'HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Run'
delete the values 'cpntmgc', 'MC', 'mslagent'.

Delete files:
WINCOMP.EXE, WINTRIM.EXE, NAVPMC.EXE, winmgts.exe
Delete directories:
[windows]\mc
wintrim
wincomp
winmgts
avpmc

Look for entries called 'mc', 'wintrim', 'navpmc' and 'wincomp'

Damn This
I have the Magic Control virus. None of your removal steps work. I dont have ANY of those wintrim or navpmc and whatever else files on my computer... but SOMEHOW, when I run a scan on my computer, MagicControl.Agent ALWAYS shows up... what the hell is going on?
