I have a problem eliminating this application. I noticed it on the system some time ago. Uninstalled it. However, after a while, my browser’s homepage was removed to searchassist.co. I thought that the removal process was successful, but the search engine remains. What should I do?

Consequently, the latter occupied your browser. It uses small files which prevent you from easily getting rid of both, the adware and the hijacker.
