Remove Picexa ads

removal by Alice Woods - -   Also known as Picexa virus, Picexa adware, Ads by Picexa | Type: Adware

What is Picexa?

Picexa (or Picexa Viewer) is a program that can be downloaded from its official website or other third-party download website as a ‘fast, stable, user-friendly image viewer for PC, laptop, tablet and smartphone.’ However, you should pay attention to the developer of this app, which is Taiwan Shui Mu Chih Ching Technology Limited. This company is already known for Winzipper, Qone8.com, Omiga Plus, and many other suspicious applications. Therefore, you should better think twice before installing Picexa adware on your computer. We have initiated a research on this app and, fortunately, did not find any signs of malware or virus. However, we have really recognized is that this program should belong to adware and a potentially unwanted program categories. We say so because it may initiate tons of annoying ads that may redirect you to unknown websites. Also, it may cause system slowdowns, and may even try to spy on you. If you want to prevent its unconscious installation, you should be very careful when installing freewares because Picexa virus is commonly spread bundled with well-known free programs, such as various download managers or media players. The most annoying thing about this adware that could let you know that it is hiding in your PC is its suspicious advertisements that are labeled as ‘Ads by Picexa’, ‘Picexa Ads’, ‘Powered by Picexa’, etc. To prevent them, we highly recommend you to install ReimageIntego and remove this adware from the system without any delay.

How can Picexa hijack my computer?

As we have already mentioned, Picexa is usually promoted as a valuable image viewer. Unfortunately, if you use Windows OS and your default photo viewer is Windows Photo Viewer, Picexa may show up instead of it out of nowhere very easily. That’s because developers of this adware use ‘bundling’ to distribute it. It means that Picexa virus is usually promoted via other freewares (PDF creators, media players, download managers, etc.) as an ‘optional download’. Be careful because it may be added to a really reputable free programs because freeware developers monetize free products this way. So, if you want to prevent infiltration of suspicious apps, you should never ever again install freewares by simply clicking the ‘next’ or ‘I agree’ bottom. This way, you may skip all important details, including notifications about ‘optional components’, and enable them to be installed by default. Instead of that, you should start investigating programs that you opt for installing by reading their EULAs and Privacy Policies. By the way, you should always select Advanced or Custom installation optional carefully monitor the entire installation process. The most important task is to detect and unmark all additional components, such as browser add-ons, plug-ins, toolbars or extensions. If you have installed Picexa virus unconsciously via another free program, follow this guide:

Protect your privacy – employ a VPN

There are several ways how to make your online time more private – you can access an incognito tab. However, there is no secret that even in this mode, you are tracked for advertising purposes. There is a way to add an extra layer of protection and create a completely anonymous web browsing practice with the help of Private Internet Access VPN. This software reroutes traffic through different servers, thus leaving your IP address and geolocation in disguise. Besides, it is based on a strict no-log policy, meaning that no data will be recorded, leaked, and available for both first and third parties. The combination of a secure web browser and Private Internet Access VPN will let you browse the Internet without a feeling of being spied or targeted by criminals.

No backups? No problem. Use a data recovery tool

If you wonder how data loss can occur, you should not look any further for answers – human errors, malware attacks, hardware failures, power cuts, natural disasters, or even simple negligence. In some cases, lost files are extremely important, and many straight out panic when such an unfortunate course of events happen. Due to this, you should always ensure that you prepare proper data backups on a regular basis.

If you were caught by surprise and did not have any backups to restore your files from, not everything is lost. Data Recovery Pro is one of the leading file recovery solutions you can find on the market – it is likely to restore even lost emails or data located on an external device.
