4anime.to: is it safe? What it does now and how to remove redirects
4anime.to was an anime streaming website with ads; in our test on 6 October 2026 its address showed only a Loading page and sent the browser to another site. The site is not a virus, but the ads, push prompts and files that came with it can leave notifications and unwanted programs behind, and the steps below remove them.

What 4anime.to was and what it does today
4anime.to was a website that listed anime episodes for free, never a program. Today its address opens a short "Loading" page that immediately hands your browser on to a different site, so the name now matters mostly for where it sends you and for the ad prompts that went with it.

Our 2021 guide described the ad and notification case. The search and bookmark cases are the usual ones for any streaming site; we cannot say which one is yours.
The site itself is not a virus: opening a web page does not install a program. When people called it the "4anime.to virus", they meant the ads, pop-ups and slower browsing that followed a visit, and the unwanted programs that some of those ads push. That is what the rest of this guide deals with.
4nime, anime4to, anime4i and other names people type for 4anime.to
4nime and anime4to are, in our reading, misspellings or reordered forms of 4anime.to, the anime streaming address this guide covers.
We found no reliable source that lists 4nime or anime4to as a separate, official service. A search for these names can lead to look-alike addresses that copy the 4anime name to draw visitors, and such copies often carry the same ad prompts and redirects described above.
We found no reliable source for anime4i either. Our reading is that it is a typing slip for anime4to or 4anime, since the letters sit next to each other on a keyboard. Treat any site under that name as unknown. Never allow its notifications, and never install a player or extension it offers.
Searches that pair 4anime with adult words, such as 4anime porn, do not point to anything 4anime.to was known for: it was an anime streaming site with ads. Pages that come up for such searches are a common place for deceptive ads and fake video players. If you landed on one and then saw new notifications or a new program, follow the removal steps in this guide.
To check any such name yourself, look at the full address in the browser bar before you click anything. Then go through the short checks below, which take a few minutes and need no extra software.
- Open your browser's notification settings and remove sites you do not know.
- Check your browser extensions and remove any you did not add yourself.
- On Windows 11, open Settings, Apps, Installed apps and look for programs added on the day the trouble began.
- Run a Microsoft Defender full scan to check the files on the PC.
Is 4anime.to dangerous?
Our test on 6 October 2026
We opened https://4anime.to/ the way a visitor does: a clean desktop Chromium browser in Lithuania, no extension, no account, one visit. The page that loaded was not an anime site but a "Loading" screen, and a moment later the browser was on a job portal's prize campaign page.

- Does the site answerYes, with status 200, but the page title is "Redirecting..." and it shows only the word Loading. There is no anime list any more.
- Where the browser ended upOn a campaign page of cvmarket.lt, a Lithuanian job portal, in Lithuanian. The address carried tags such as utm_medium=display, the kind advertisers add to count visits that came from an ad. From another country, device or visit the destination may differ; we saw one.
- How the redirect is madeBy the page's own script. It contacts router.parklogic.com and replaces the page with the address that comes back. A plain request without a browser gets only the Loading page, with no redirect header.
- Ad-blocker checkThe script contains a check of the kind that sees whether an ad blocker hides ad-style page elements (it uses class names such as ad-overlay and dfp-ad-container). We did not test what it does with the answer.
- Notification requestNone on this one visit. That does not mean the site never asks: ad pages often vary by country, device, referrer or a second visit.
- Pop-ups and extra tabsNone opened on this one visit.
- Other hosts contactedrouter.parklogic.com, rtbbhub.com and chatursply.com, besides the destination's own. We have not identified what each one does.
- Not testedOther countries and devices, a second visit, clicking anything, and what a visitor from a search result or an ad would see.
A hand-off to other sites, seen once We found no download and no notification prompt, but this was one visit from one country. A page that sends every visitor on to somebody else's page earns from the hand-off, and we cannot tell where it would send you. Treat it as a redirector, not as a place to watch anime.
The destination, a job portal's own campaign page, is a normal company site and is not the problem. What matters is that the visitor did not choose to go there.

Our guide called the site an illegal streaming service whose ads could lead to harmful pages. The picture shows an episode list with a Russian-language ad toast in the corner, one of the ad prompts our editors saw.

Running an installer, player or update offered by an ad
Sites of this kind and their ads often say you need a special player or an update. A program you run can be adware or worse, and once it is on the machine it can open pages you never chose. Some pages push people into downloading unwanted programs, like adware and browser hijackers.

The 2021 picture shows the push-service prompt. One click lets that address send ads to your desktop until you take the permission back. In Chrome and Edge the notices can arrive with the window closed, because both keep running in the background by default.

Ads and redirects to dating, gambling, loan or fake pages
The ads come in as pop-ups, banners or redirects, and they are chosen by ad networks, not by the site, so nobody on the site controls where they lead. Some of the pages are harmless, some are not; a password or card number typed on a fake one is lost.

Free programs and files from streaming and torrent-style sites are a known way for unwanted programs to arrive. A file that is not a video, for example an .exe or .msi, is a program, and a program is what you would have to remove.

Torrent sites carry the same risk: the files are not checked by anyone, and malware can sit in a download that looks like a film or episode. Free is paid for somewhere, usually with your attention or your computer.

Take back notification permissions
Open Settings > Privacy and security > Site settings > Notifications, and Remove or set to Not allowed every site you do not recognise.

Clear the site data
Press Ctrl + Shift + Delete, choose All time, tick Cookies and other site data and Cached images and files, and click Delete data.
Reset Chrome
Open Settings > Reset settings > Restore settings to their original defaults and confirm with Reset settings. This resets the start page, search engine and pinned tabs and turns off extensions; bookmarks and saved passwords stay. To stop notifications after you close Chrome, also turn off Settings > System > Continue running background apps when Google Chrome is closed.

Clear the site data
Open Settings > Privacy, search, and services > Delete browsing data > Choose what to clear, set All time, tick Cookies and other site data and Cached images and files, and click Clear now.
Reset Edge
Open Settings > Reset settings > Restore settings to their default values and confirm with Reset. Extensions are turned off and the start page goes back to default; favourites, history and saved passwords stay. To stop notifications after you close Edge, turn off Settings > System and performance > Continue running background extensions and apps when Microsoft Edge is closed.

Clear cookies and site data
Open Settings > Privacy & Security > Cookies and Site Data > Clear Data, tick both boxes and click Clear.
Refresh Firefox
Open the menu > Help > More troubleshooting information and click Refresh Firefox. Add-ons and custom settings are removed and the home page goes back to default; bookmarks, history and passwords stay.

Take back the notification permission
Safari 18 and later on macOS: open Safari > Settings > Websites > Notifications, select
4anime.toorpushails.com(or any site you do not recognise) and set it to Deny, or click Remove. Untick Allow websites to ask for permission to send notifications at the bottom so no site can ask again.Remove extensions you do not recognise
In Safari > Settings > Extensions, select anything you did not install yourself and click Uninstall.
Clear the site data
In Safari > Settings > Privacy > Manage Website Data, remove the site's data, or use History > Clear History > all history. To empty the cache as well, turn on Show features for web developers in Settings > Advanced and choose Develop > Empty Caches.
Check the Mac for apps from the ads
Ads also target Mac users with fake players and "cleaners". In Finder > Applications, move anything unknown to the Bin. In System Settings > General > Login Items & Extensions, remove unknown items. Then use Go > Go to Folder to check
/Library/LaunchAgents,~/Library/LaunchAgents,/Library/LaunchDaemonsand/Library/Application Supportfor folders and files with the same unknown names, and empty the Bin.
Then, whichever browser you use
Step 1: Scan the PC if you downloaded anything from the ads
Most people who only saw the notifications can skip this step. If a notification or the page it opened made you download or run a file, delete the file and run a full scan, then a Microsoft Defender Offline scan.
In Windows 11 and Windows 10 open Windows Security > Virus & threat protection > Scan options, select Microsoft Defender Antivirus (offline scan) and click Scan now. The PC restarts and the scan takes about 15 minutes, so save your work first.

After removal: keep the ads from coming back
If you clicked an ad, allowed a prompt or ran a file
A visit alone leaves nothing to remove. If you pressed Allow, installed something or keep landing on strange pages, something in the browser or on the PC is causing it; look for that, not for the site.

Take back notification permissions
In Chrome open Settings > Privacy and security > Site settings > Notifications and remove every site you do not recognise, including

Remove extensions you did not choose
Open the extensions page of your browser and remove anything you did not install, especially players, video downloaders and search helpers added recently.

Uninstall what came with a file or free program
In Windows 11 go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps (Apps & features in Windows 10), sort by date and remove whatever appeared the day you used the site (Uninstall a program or app in Windows On uGetFix).

Scan, then scan offline
Start a Microsoft Defender Full scan; when it ends, run Microsoft Defender Antivirus (offline scan) too, because some malware hides while Windows is running. If the scan finds anything, remove it before doing more. A scan finds programs; redirects stop once the thing that causes them is gone.

Reset the browser if the pages keep coming
Adware mostly changes the browser, not Windows: the start page, search engine, extensions and permissions. A browser reset (steps in the tabs above) puts those back. A separate tune-up or repair program is not needed for this.
Typed a password or card number on a page an ad opened? Change that password today and tell your bank about the card. Keep Windows and your browser updated, so the protections that are already built in keep working.
How to keep it from happening again
Do
- Stop sites from even asking: in Chrome, Settings > Privacy and security > Site settings > Notifications > Don't allow sites to send notifications.
- Install programs from the maker's own site or the Microsoft Store, and take Custom or Advanced setup when an installer offers it, then untick the extras.
- Use the Windows Security that is already built in, keep it on and keep it updated; SmartScreen (App & browser control) warns about pages and files already known to be bad.
- Install extensions only from your browser's own store, and open the store page yourself.
- Back up your documents with File History or OneDrive, so a bad download or a failing disk cannot take them.
- A VPN on public Wi-Fi hides your IP address from sites and ad networks; it blocks neither ads nor malware.
Don't
- Press Allow because a page says you need it to see the video.
- Download a player, codec or "update" from a streaming site or from its ads.
- Click buttons and banners on streaming or torrent-style sites; the ad networks serving them also sell space to scammers.
- Keep visiting sites that offer copyrighted shows for free, however careful you are.
Safer ways to watch anime
Nothing is free: a site that gives you paid shows pays for itself with ads and with what its ads install. A licensed source costs money or a library card, and nothing on it asks you to install anything.

Questions about 4anime.to
Is 4anime.to safe?
Not as a place to watch anime, and our test shows why. On 6 October 2026 the address loaded a Loading page that sent the browser straight to another site, a job portal's campaign page in our case, so there was no anime list to use at all.
We saw no download and no notification request on that one visit, but it was a single visit from Lithuania, and we cannot say what other visitors get. Our 2021 guide described ads and a notification prompt on the site. Keep notifications blocked, never install a player or update the site or its ads offer, and prefer a licensed service.
Is 4anime.to a virus?
No, it is a website, not a program, and opening it installs nothing by itself. Our 2021 guide used the word virus for the ads, pop-ups and slower browsing that people saw, and for the unwanted programs some of those ads push. The harm comes from what you accept afterwards:
- a notification permission
- a browser extension
- a file from an ad
If you did none of these, there is nothing to remove. If you did, take back the notification permission, remove unknown extensions, uninstall programs from the day you used the site and run a Microsoft Defender full scan, as the steps above show.
Why does 4anime.to send me to another website?
Because the page is built to do that. In our test the page loaded only the word Loading, and its own script contacted router.parklogic.com and then replaced the page with the address that came back. For us it was a Lithuanian job portal's campaign page with ad-tracking tags in its address.
For you it may be a different page, depending on country, device or visit. We have not identified what each service in the chain does, so we do not say who earns what. If you land on a page that asks you to press Allow or install something, close the tab.
Is 4anime.to still an anime site?
On 6 October 2026 it was not: we saw no anime list, only a redirect to another address. The Tonic registry records the current registration as made on 24 June 2022 through an escrow import, which is after our January 2021 guide, so we cannot say the owner is the same as in 2021.
The name is valid until 24 May 2028. Other sites may use the same or a similar name, and nothing proves they belong together. Treat each address as a separate site, check the address bar, and apply the same rules to every one of them.
Is it legal to watch anime on sites like 4anime.to?
Whether a site is licensed is decided by the rights-holders, and free full-length shows on such sites normally are not. Our 2021 guide called the service illegal.
How the law treats the viewer differs from country to country, and we are not lawyers, so we cannot give a verdict for where you live. What we can say is that these sites are paid for by advertising, and the advertising is where the risk is:
- fake players
- prompts to press Allow
- installers
A licensed source, such as a service you subscribe to, a store rental or your library, avoids both questions.
How do I stop notifications from an anime site?
Remove the site's permission in your browser. In Chrome open Settings, then Privacy and security, Site settings, Notifications, and remove or block the site, for example a pushails.com address; Edge has the same list under Cookies and site permissions, and Firefox under Privacy and Security, Permissions, Notifications. Safari on Mac uses Settings, Websites, Notifications.
If you cannot tell which site it is, remove every entry you do not recognise. Turning off background running in Chrome or Edge stops notices arriving after you close the browser. If they keep coming, reset the browser.
What if I clicked an ad or installed something from 4anime.to?
Act the same day. Open Installed apps in Windows 11 or Apps and features in Windows 10, sort by install date and remove everything that appeared when you used the site. Remove browser extensions you did not choose and withdraw notification permissions.
Then run a Microsoft Defender full scan followed by the offline scan, and remove what it finds. If you typed a password or card number on a page an ad opened, change the password and tell your bank. A real video is a media file such as .mp4 or .mkv; an .exe or .msi is a program.
Do I need a system repair or tune-up tool after visiting 4anime.to?
No. Our 2021 guide suggested a system repair tool after cleaning, but adware mostly changes the browser, not Windows:
- the start page
- the search engine
- extensions
- notification permissions
Those are put back by removing the permissions and extensions and, if needed, resetting the browser, which the steps above explain, and Windows already includes what is needed to scan.
A tune-up cannot promise that crashes or freezes will not return, and slowdowns can have many causes. If Windows itself misbehaves after an install, uninstall that program first and scan again.
Where can I watch anime safely?
On licensed services. Search the series title inside a streaming service you already pay for; it tells you whether the show is included. Stores rent or sell single series, and many public libraries give free streaming with a library card, though catalogues differ from library to library.
Free services with ads exist too, with a limited catalogue that depends on your country. None of these ask you to install a player, press Allow or update anything. If you still use an unofficial site, keep notifications blocked, close tabs that open by themselves and run nothing it hands you.
