Initially one might think that getting offers and deals for a better and cheaper shopping sessions is a great idea. This would save users time and money. However, PriceMinus is a shopping companion with plenty of side-effects, and we are here to discuss them.

First of all, the app is ad-supported, which means that sponsors and partners often use its services to promote their content. That being said, there is no guarantee that these offers are actually of high quality and whether they are even useful for the targeted audience.

Adware's main goal is to produce ads on Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, or another web browser, hence, if you have this app installed, you might see popups, banners and other ads showing up on most websites that you visit. Links to other websites might also be inserted into hyperlinks, which random words would be turned into.

Shopping companies are extremely prevalent, although not all of them are genuine. Some adware simply disguises by that name, and instead of delivering useful discounts or coupons, inserts intrusive ads every time you open your web browser. Without a doubt, such activity might negatively impact your online experience and prevent you from finding genuinely useful deals or offers.

The frequency of third-party alerts about various commercial deals, discounts, coupons, and similar things is by far the major drawback of this program. Note that it delivers pop-up ads, banner ads, in-text links, pop-under ads, and other forms of alerts, which are usually marked as:

  • “Ads by PriceMinus”
  • “PriceMinus Ads”, etc.

Continuously popping ads certainly, do not add speed to your browser. While visiting this domain occasionally, you might get directed to a website compromised with malevolent elements. We highly recommend you remove this app from your computer to return your browser back to normal.

Previously, getting infected with adware programs was rather a big inconvenience rather than a problem. However, now taking into account the rise of malvertising[1], you should not ignore the presence of adware-type programs on the device. The key problem is that developers of destructive threats employ ads to conduct their cyberattack on the virtual population[2].

Adware may activate cookies on each of your web browsers (Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari, etc.) and, likewise, monitor your online activities. By using alternative tracking tools such as beacons or pixels, it may also compile the data about your browsing habits, visited domains, and browsing frequency. It also determines your geographical location.

No matter how useless such data might seem for you, keep in mind that third parties are very happy after receiving it because it can be applied for various marketing purposes. Note that such questionable programs administrators might trade the compiled data with third parties. They are more inclined to so after the enactment often new Senate legislation[3].

Such an act might hike the number of personalized spam emails in your Inbox[4]. Such commercial messages may disguise a far more troublesome virtual infection. Finally, it's also important to mention that PriceMinus redirect results in slower system processes.

If you want to keep your computer safe, we recommend getting rid of all PUPs from your computer. For a full system check, we recommend using SpyHunter 5Combo Cleaner or Malwarebytes. You can also clean your browsers quicker with FortectIntego.

Users might find adware seemingly out of nowhere

Bundling this PUP to a free application is the most prevalent method of spreading such types of programs. Keep in mind that such programs are even attached to well-known software updates of Adobe Flash Player[5] or Skype. Usually, additional components are disclosed misleadingly or appended under “Recommended” settings.

Therefore, users usually end up with unwanted programs on their computers when they do not pay attention to the freeware's installation process and unconsciously agree to install them. To escape infiltration of adware, we recommend you to read EULA, Privacy Policy, and other relative information.

Select “Advanced” or “Custom” installation mode (in contrast to “Quick/Basic” installation) and, while advancing from one stage to another, remove the checkmarks from questionable optional applications.
