Daily Tab is not a malicious browser extension, although you might be not familiar with it because it one day appeared on your browser. This usually happens due to an installation method known as bundling, where several apps are offered in a standalone installer. The main goal of apps like these is to make money from various sponsored content, and it typically includes people clicking on the top search results that are marked as ads. In many cases, users don't even notice these markings and might consider these results as genuine. This might completely alter how they browse and interact with various websites.

Additionally, it is also worth mentioning that almost all apps track user data to some degree. Browser hijackers and other PUPs are well-known for this behavior, as it helps their developers to deliver ads in a more targeted way. As already mentioned, most of this data is anonymous, although it is recommended to avoid sharing it with too many sources.

Removal instructions

Browser hijackers are mainly spread as browser extensions nowadays, as they have quite a lot of functionality they can incorporate and are more goal-oriented. In most cases, extensions operate exclusively via the browser, and it is their main surface of operations, which means that other apps are not affected at all – just like in the case of Daily Tab.

Therefore, in order for the changes to your browser settings, such as homepage or search provider, to be referred to default, you have to remove the extension from your browser. Note: keep in mind that there could be other potentially unwanted browser extensions installed on your browser, so get rid of everything you don't recognize.

Google Chrome

• Open Google Chrome, click on the Menu (three vertical dots at the top-right corner) and select More tools > Extensions.
• In the newly opened window, you will see all the installed extensions. Uninstall all the suspicious plugins that might be related to the unwanted program by clicking Remove.

Mozilla Firefox

• Open Mozilla Firefox browser and click on the Menu (three horizontal lines at the top-right of the window).
• Select Add-ons.
• In here, select unwanted plugin and click Remove.

MS Edge

• Open Edge and click select Settings > Extensions.
• Delete unwanted extensions by clicking Remove.

MS Edge (legacy)

• Select Menu (three horizontal dots at the top-right of the browser window) and pick Extensions.
• From the list, pick the extension and click on the Gear icon.
• Click on Uninstall at the bottom.

Safari

• Click Safari > Preferences…
• In the new window, pick Extensions.
• Select the unwanted extension and select Uninstall.
